Ok, this is a long one! So grab a cuppa and learn about Harry's groom today.

A lot of Spaniels "suffer" with a condition called Lip Fold Pyoderma, which as the name suggests affects the lips, resulting in skin that is red raw & inflamed, sometimes the dogs rub or scratch at their mouths and occasionally there can be an odour and discharge.

Harry is one of these Spaniels.

Harry's lips were the worst today that I have seen them (he has medication & cleaner from the vets), so I wanted to do something to help him.

I have recently started using natural, hypoallergenic & eco friendly shampoo bars. I decided to contact the company for advice. I sent them a message to ask if they thought the shampoo bar would help and if so which "flavour" would be best. I was really impressed when Laura from Tilly and Family called with invaluable advice.

Due to the antibacterial, antifungal and gentle properties of the shampoo bars, they would be perfect for this delicate job, as the harsh chemicals in other shampoos & cleaners can irritate the skin even more. It was agreed that the Rose & Vanilla bar was the most gentle bar. Laura also advised using their Paw & Nose Balm after giving the lips a thorough clean.

Sometimes Rose essential oil can be irritant and even toxic to dogs, Laura and I discussed how the essential oils only make up 3% of the shampoo bars, which is the safest maximum level, so I agreed to do a small patch test and watch for any sensitivity (extra lip licking, salivating or pawing at the mouth). We didn't have any of these, so I proceeded to wash Harry all over with the shampoo bar.

As you can see from the video, the shampoo bar lathers up really well and it smells really nice.

It was important to thoroughly rinse Harry all over but even more so on his lips to ensure all the shampoo residue had been removed.

Once Harry was dried and groomed, I applied the Paw & Nose balm to his lips. The Vitamin E in the balm has healing properties, the Beeswax provides a protective layer and the Shea Butter deeply hydrates & soothes the dry, irritated skin.

I have asked Harry's owners to keep me posted on his progress, hopefully these new products really help him feel more comfortable 💛🐾💛

🎀 Ꮋꭺꭱꭱꭹ 🎀

This handsome boy has come on in leaps & bounds since coming to my "new" salon.

He can be a very cheeky Cocker Spaniel, sometimes he grumbles at me, sometimes he snaps and sometimes he likes to cross his back legs so I can't get to them but his last few grooms he has been an absolute angel and a pleasure to groom 💙.

This little chap is a Cavachon, he arrived in style today in his pawrents new car, he was so comfortable in there he didn't want to get out of the car to see me 😂.

He was very happy when I remembered there were treatos attached to his lead 💙

I made a mistake in my diary today, which left me twiddling my thumbs for a couple of hours 🤦🏼‍♀️.

I used the time to give a very special little lady, from the shelter a pre- rehoming bath, blow dry, brush and paw tidy.

Holly the Cocker Spaniel is such a sweet old lady 💖🐾💖

💛 𝑱𝒐𝒔𝒊𝒆 💛

This gorgeous girl needed an extra special pamper session today, unfortunately she has been feeling very subdued since her best friend Ellie passed away on Sunday 😥.

Josie & I had big cuddles and shared several quiet moments during her groom today. I treated her to a relaxing facial to hopefully help her feel a little better 💖

This handsome boy is a Newfoundland x Poodle, he's only 8 months old and has already taken to the grooming process like a Newfoundland to water 😂..

I received the sad news yesterday, that Ellie the beautiful Labrador had crossed over the rainbow bridge 😥🌈.

I would like to pass my deepest sympathy to her family.

Run free beautiful girl, I will miss our cuddles 😥

I cannot believe this girl is 13 years old, she's so active.

She's not sure she likes being pampered, she definitely doesn't like being dried. Once the drying process is done & dusted she's much happier 💛

These "sisters" come to see me every 8 weeks for their pamper sessions & cuddles.

Honey likes to rule the roost and be first for everything, but I tell her that she must be patient and wait her turn while I do Lola 💖🐾💖

This little lady is a Miniature Schnauzer, with oodles of character. She likes to do little howls which are really cute but every time I reached for the phone to record her - she stopped 😂

Little Izzy came to see me on Thursday, with her "sister" Cindy.

Izzy is on medication from the vets for a skin condition and I was concerned that the harsh chemicals in bottled shampoo could of been contributing to the problem so I decided to switch her over to the Rose & Vanilla shampoo bar from Tilly and Family to see if the natural products helped her more.

The Rose & Vanilla bar "The Comforting One", has just 5 all natural ingredients, making it hypo-allergenic and kind to the skin & coat.

This handsome boy is a Cavapoo, he usually visits me every 4 weeks for a bath, blow dry & full groom, unfortunately he missed his last appointment so was a little overdue for his groom.

Baillie has sensitive skin, so today I decided to change his bathing routine by switching my normal shampoo for the Rose & Vanilla shampoo bar from Tilly and Family . The coconut oil in the shampoo bar holds healing properties, and helps to moisturise, clean & condition the skin and coat.

He's such a handsome boy 💙
