Back out to clients this week! Yesterday I didn’t make it to anyone due to floods and traffic chaos 🤦‍♀️ today, I accidentally closed the boot of my car with my car keys in there, and my car decided to play some disturbed joke on me where it locked every single sodding door as the boot closed.

Once rescued I did manage to make it out to Liz and her donkeys at least.

Here’s to a better tomorrow 😂

Happy New Year everyone!

It’s been wonderful to work with you all over this past year, whether I’ve known you years or we’ve recently met it’s been fantastic.

2024 had its ups and downs, of course. One of my highlights was taking Tosca for walks around Jarjeer (pictured) during a good trip to Morocco. I’ve seen amazing progress from my clients and some wonderful horsemanship. Agility days and camps have been busy and full on, we even got filmed by the FEI this summer! We also welcomed our new yard cat, Smudge who’s getting more confident meeting you all. I had a trip to Ireland to teach Horse Agility which was wonderful… And myself and Inara have a lot of fun doing cool things this year.

On the flip side… The year ended with Khalil needing X-rays, and he also cut his lip open a few months ago too. Spirit and Alfie very sadly lost their field companion earlier this year, and I damaged my ankle trying to save him which has been ongoing… and that’s not the only injury I’ve sustained this year either 🙈 at least I’ve been keeping my soft tissue therapist busy.

So here’s to 2025 and I look forward to helping more people and equines, seeing all of your progress, getting back to Morocco and returning to (almost) full health.

Thank you everyone for being great fun and tolerating my sense of humour. I’m on diary duty end of the week so will sort bookings out then.

🎄🎁❤️ Our Christmas gift to you is dropping the FINAL EPISODE for Season 8 of An Equine Conversation TODAY on Christmas day for your listening pleasure 🤩🥳 🎄

I’m pretty sure that the vast majority of small business advisors would discourage releasing a podcast episode on Christmas Day… and I mean, we didn’t actually particularly plan to release today. For reasons beyond our control, this Season has been released a little later in the year than we planned… but ho ho ho, here we all are and it’s Christmas Day, 2024 as we release this episode. Consider this beautiful story our Christmas gift to you, and just maybe you'll feel inspirated to get behind some of this work (that we talk about this episode) with a Christmas gift contribution of your own 🎄😍

I’m delighted to welcome Ellen Cochrane back to An Equine Conversation. We heard from Ellen in Season 4, talking all about equine agility and The International Horse Agility Club. This episode is something quiet different: We’re hearing about Ellen’s journey to and experiences in working with mules, both her own mule Inara, and her voluntary efforts in supporting humans working with mules in Morocco to improve welfare outcomes for animals and people. I get tingles even thinking about this episode & what Ellen has been involved with. I hope you find the episode as educational and inspiring as I have.

❤️🐴❤️

Be sure to download and to subscribe to An Equine Conversation so every episode drops straight into your podcast listening line-up 😍

Hold your horses!!

It’s great that you are all so keen, but I’m being inundated with emails and messages while I’m trying to get the final 2024 Horse Agility judging done and all the end of year stuff. We’ve just had Christmas and I’ve got a poorly horse at the moment too.

I won’t be looking at organising any lessons until towards the end of the week so please bear with me.

I won’t be setting 2025 Horse Agility day event or camps dates until probably next week.

I’ll be in touch soon ☺️ thank you.

What a Christmas Eve!

My little grey lad had to have X-rays on his neck today. His nuchal ligament has come away and is snapping from side to side of his mane. The good news is the bones are looking fine so it’s looking positive as there was some worry about them. The X-rays have been sent away for a second opinion but the thought is that a lifetime of Arab head tossing has taken its toll. I’ll need to wait to hear more but the general thought is it will be something we will be able to manage.

We also had the hunt very close today and those who know me will know the problems I’ve had with that. Thankfully loud music drowned out any noise and we were able to manage without drama today.

Then, on the way home in the dark two loose horses ran in front of my car 🙈 no other cars stopped but thankfully we were close to a friend’s house so I knew they’d be safe in there. They were retrieved and all was fine. Brought up some of my hunt related horses on road trauma mind 😂

Phew!! I am hoping for a much more peaceful Christmas Day 😂😮‍💨

Wishing you all a merry Christmas. Have a wonderful day all. 🎄☺️

And that’s a wrap! Had my last day teaching until after Christmas today 🎄 thank you everyone for a great week again.

The Grinch scored a fantastic 99/100 in their Horse Agility competition yesterday! Which is quite something as they could only just about see out of one eye hole. Well done Wonky pony for tolerating your human and scoring consistently well regardless 😂

Been a while since I’ve done one of these. I managed to get clips of most the equines I saw last week. Didn’t quite manage to get everyone but here’s those I did get 😍

Awful camera work for Merlot and Shiraz but Merlot is touching a cone on cue here. I posted about Jack earlier in the week. Lulu’s owner is feeling confident and enjoying working with her after some challenging times, we’ve definitely turned a corner! Dibble is gaining confidence in novel objects, sounds and feelings. Merlin had his first steps with a rider on board this week! 🤩 Young Donna had a challenging start to her session and I was informed that last time she was in this arena she actually jumped out. But both her and Sarah did extremely well by just taking things slowly and carefully. Beech and Frizzy had their first lessons with handlers Erin and Orla. Frizzy and Orla even finished at liberty! Then it was Christmas fun for Dickie, Bob, Juno, Peanut and Wonky.

A good, but chilly week, I’m glad it’s warmed up a bit!
