Did you know? November is pet diabetes awareness month.
๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿน

Cats, dogs and sometimes even small furries can suffer with diabetes. Cats can be very clever and sometimes go into remission after diagnosis. Whereas dogs, once diagnosed, diabetes becomes a lifelong condition.

Signs to look out for include
๐ŸพDrinking excessively
๐ŸพUrinating excessively
๐ŸพEating lots but loosing weight

Fortunately once diabetes is under control many pets can live a happy and fun filled life with treatment on board. This normally consists of injections with careful management of diet. Each pet will have their own treatment plan, which is specific to their individual needs.

This is Bentley. Bentley was diagnosed about 7 years ago. He leads a very spaniel lifestyle, even though, due to complications with his diabetes causing cataracts, he has lost his eyesight. He has insulin injections twice a day with his breakfast and dinner.

This is the very friendly giant Bruno. Bruno comes in to receive his chemotherapy. He is always the happiest boy when he comes in to see us.
You may notice the little duck in the photo, this is a CM duck, raising awareness for early detection for breast cancer.
Bruno and Ducky were very well behaved for their appointment!
