Stella is a super little dog, she's straight-forward and is a pleasure to have on foster. She’s approx. 2 years old. She needs a fairly active home as she loves getting out and about sniffing! She can be nervous when going on new walking routes but a patient owner will find she loves her walks! Stella enjoys playing with other dogs, so could go to a home with dogs or as an only dog. She's fun to train and learns quickly. She's fine to leave and we've left her for up to 4 hours, but she would be best in a home where someone is around for part of the day as she'd become bored if left much of the day with someone who only pops back at lunchtime when working.

She's really affectionate and is great with everyone she meets. In my opinion she's a bit of a gem! For more info please see Amicii's post. Please note the adoption fee is £350 and not £480 as stated in their post. Feel free to send a personal message to Jenny Comish or call her on 07786 075280.

Malvern’s grasslands, heathlands and scrub can be home to one of the UK’s most misunderstood reptile – the Adder. The Malvern Hills landscape is one of the last remaining sites for this declining species in Worcestershire.

You may encounter adders from March to October in fair weather. Adders will usually sense you coming and slither away before you know they’re there.

To help avoid disturbance of this creature, please keep your dog under close control and in sight at all times. An adder bite is a last resort when the adder feels threatened or is harmed – this can be triggered by loose dogs running and rooting around in the undergrowth.

The adder is protected by law and a shy retiring species by nature, therefore please be respectful to the species and it’s habitat by keeping your dogs close and remain on footpaths when visiting this special site.

If your dog has been bitten by an adder or you suspect that it has, take your pet immediately to a vet for treatment.

You'll now find sheep with their spring lambs on the Malvern Hills and Commons.

Sheep and cattle can be found throughout Castlemorton and Hollybed Commons and within temporary electric-fenced compartments on the Hills.

The grazing livestock move around the landscape within these compartments. Our Stockwatch update provides the location of sheep and cattle within the Trust's grazing schemes www.malvernhills.org.uk/stockwatch.

⚠️Dog control powers approved⚠️
People who fail to clean up after their dogs could now face a fixed penalty notice.
The PSPO pursuant to dog control will be brought into force with effect from 1 May 2022 and this will continue to allow us to deal with dog control offences by issuing fixed penalty notices.
Visit https://www.malvernhills.gov.uk/environmental-health/dog-fouling for more information or to report dog fouling.

Over the weekend we've been reminded of the importance of putting your dog on a lead near livestock.

A pregnant ewe had to be put down after being chased out of a compartment by a dog. The sheep suffered severe injuries whilst trying to run away from the dog and could not be saved. The unborn lamb also died.

If you're visiting with your dog, please check Stockwatch before you visit and put your pet on a lead at all times near livestock www.malvernhills.org.uk/stockwatch

Simply keeping your dog on a lead near livestock will put an end to these distressing incidents. Thank you.

Do you think dog owners and walkers should receive a fixed penalty notice for not picking up after their dog?

We want to hear your views about our proposed Dog Control Public Space Protection Order (PSPO). We continue to receive reports in relation to dog fouling and would like to extend the PSPO that was previously in place to address these issues. If approved, the PSPO will allow us to deal with dog control offences by issuing fixed penalty notices. Visit https://www.malvernhills.gov.uk/consultations to take part before 13 January 2022.
