⭐️Garden playtime⭐️ Flashback to pre-Christmas time with Isla (the pup) and Ozzy ❤️ They are family dogs and absolutely loved having a good play together after their grooms. You can see who wears the trousers 🤣 We are so lucky to have this space and the freedom to allow dogs to let off steam during their appointments. Please note that we only allow family dogs (those that live together or are from the same family) to come into contact with each other. Otherwise each dog has their own separate safe space. What makes DogzBody Spa unique? Part 2… The fully enclosed and covered garden area. We are so lucky to have this outdoor space ❤️ It has many uses: - toileting area as a dog is far more comfortable if they have had a chance to toilet after a car journey or after the groom itself - decompression time. Some dogs are travel sick, have anxiety being groomed or just general anxiety… and so the garden allows a dog to decompress before, during and after the groom making the experience far more positive. - play time. Play following a groom helps to associate positive feelings with the grooming process. - health checks. We use this space to observe the dog moving. This allows us to pick up on any possible stiffness or injuries. We can then inform the owner of any findings and adapt the grooming process to ensure that the dog is safe and comfortable at all times. - safe space. To prevent any contact with other dogs, we can use this space as a holding area if there is any overlap between dogs for any reason such as the owner arriving late to collect or a groom taking longer than expected. We much prefer a space like this to a crate, plus it is constantly under supervision at all times. The garden has many amazing uses but these are the main ones. We love it! ⭐️What is Sham-Blasting?⭐️ At DogzBody Spa, we see a lot of double coated breeds such as Huskies, Malamutes, Pugs, German Shepherds etc. If the undercoat is compacted or proving difficult to loosen, we will shampoo the coat and then use our high velocity dryers to ‘blast’ the deshed shampoo into the coat. This gets the product right down to the root which, in turn, helps to make the dead undercoat more slippy. This allows for easier removal when drying and brushing. Loki the Husky was the perfect candidate for shamblasting as he is really not bothered by the bath or dryer. The team always weigh up what a dog will tolerate and feel comfortable with during the grooming process. It’s that time of year when all the double coated breeds decide to bid farewell to their undercoat ready for the warmer temperatures! (Apparently!) Sammy the Samoyed very generously left half of his body weight in hair at the salon last week 🤣 but we didn’t mind because we knew he would feel far less warm and itchy 💕 plus his new coat would be able to grow through without causing compaction.
