A Dog Fact For You…
A dog explores it’s environment through it’s sense of smell, their most powerful sense.
They are born with their nose open first before their eyes and ears. This is how they learn the most.
A dog's ability to detect cancer at early & late stages in patients breath samples is around 90%! The dog's brain and nose hardware is still the most sophisticated odour detection device on the planet! 😲
Amazing or what?!
Stereotyping breeds and why we should not focus on the “look” of the dog.
A dog’s breed just means it’s ability to perform certain tasks and it’s potential power.
Every dog can bite. It’s how you approach and handle the situation. It’s about observing the dog’s body language, the owner’s energy, the situation and how the dog is feeling in that moment.
The key is to remain calm and confident at ALL times.
What is the ideal family dog?
A dog that knows rules, boundaries and limits. A respectful, trusting, sociable and loyal pet.
Even though a dog’s natural instincts are ingrained and depending on it’s breed abilities, our job is to fulfill these needs with different activities e.g. agility. Meeting our dogs needs will ensure our dogs live a balance, healthy and fulfilled life.
A dog doesn’t expect anything back and just wants to please the family.
A dog is happy when it’s fulfilled in life.
We owe it to them because they 100% deserve it, they’re family at the end of the day and we love them 🐾❤️
This position never gets old 🤣

What a huge change from Bogle! 😃
In a short space of time, Bogle’s gone from complete food aggression to a much calmer dog around food. She’s not 100% yet but definitely getting there.
Her owners have done a brilliant job with her and are on the right track 👏👍
I ❤️ it when owners are 100% onboard and committed to their dog.
This is why I love what I do! 🥰
Loki’s SO glad to be back walking with the boys in the pack! He also met the lovely Bogle (collie) 🥰
Conditioning.
In this video, we managed to get Jessie conditioned to the slip lead in one session. It was uncomfortable for her at the start (which is natural) but towards the end of the walk she got used to it.
Her owner was praising her every time she was calm with the figure of eight on.
Jessie was walked on a harness before and she was constantly out in front and pulling.
It’s natural for dogs wanting to get something off them whether it’s a lead, collar, muzzle or halti. It’s not because they “hate” it, it’s just because they’re not used to it.
Remember, when a dog is being conditioned to an item the experience always needs to be a positive one.
Remember, success with a dog takes time, patience, consistency, repetition and perseverance.

Recall training with Freya #puppytraining #dogbehaviour #puppiesofinstagram #pups #dogpsychology #puppylife
Baby Freya is 13 weeks today! 🎉🥳 She is doing so well. This was her first time at a café and all dogs were brilliant. Freya is motivated by food and all those smells were a huge challenge for her! Of course both dogs were rewarded with some of my sandwich 🥪 😉 #dogbehaviour #dogpsychology #dogsuk #puppiesofinstagram #pups
It’s always good to practise feeding dogs together and teaching them they don’t have to compete for their food. Here in this video, I’m feeding Loki first because he was the calmest one. You always feed the one that’s behaving the calmest and least dominant. If you feed a dog that’s exhibiting dominant behaviour, you’re rewarding this and this can lead to behaviour issues in the future and can cause fights. Loki (naturally) is the most dominant dog out of the 4, but at that time he was the calmest one so I rewarded that good behaviour first. Naturally, dogs have no concept of sharing. In the wild or on the streets they would compete for their food to survive. When dogs are in packs it’ll depend on the hierarchy and who gets to eat first. #dogstagram #canines #dogbehaviour #dogpsychology #dogsukofinstagram #dogslife #dogs #packofdogs

Rules, Boundaries and Limits. Putting limits on play time helps prevent unhealthy habits such as, obsessions, fixations and resource guarding. Play time is always fun for both you and the dog. It’s a brilliant bonding exercise. But from start to finish, play time is ALWAYS on your terms. Play time is a perfect opportunity to practise your leadership. #dogbehaviour #dogpsychology #dogbehaviourist #dogsofinstagram #dogs #dogslifestyle #dogslife #dogleadership #dogownerslife
You can’t get enough of calmness when it comes to dogs. Calmness is so important for a dog’s psychological and physical well-being. Dog’s naturally listen to you better when they’re in a calm state. Iggy gets REALLY excited around and in the water. Briony’s been working with Iggy on creating a new, positive and calm association with water, and he’s not allowed to go in until she says. When Iggy is calm in the water this will, in time, make it easier for Briony to call him back and limit his time in the water. #dogbehaviour #dogpsychology #recalltraining #dogsuk #dogsofinstagram #dogs #leadership #calmness
Establishing each dog’s pack status. You have to see a dog in a number of environments to see what their true personality is. A dog has to find it’s place in the pack in order for everyone to live in peace, harmony and to work together as a team. Front - Natural leader. very forward. Very confident. Very sure of themselves. Persistent. Middle - Happy-go-lucky. Keeps the front and back positions balanced and in order. This dog’s energy is PERFECT for a family and first time dog owners. Back - Sensitive. Very submissive. Very alert. Not as confident as the other two pack positions. Luckily here in the video… we’ve got the three pack positions. Loki (Malamute) - Front of the pack dog. Hugo (German Shep X Mastiff) - Middle of the pack dog. Max (Jack Russell) - Back of the pack dog. Every position in the pack matters 💯!👍 #dogbehaviour #thedogsmind #dogpsychology #dogsofinstagram #dogs #dogsuk #dogslife #alaskanmalamute #germanshepherd #jackrussell #dogpacklife #leadership #dogtraining #dogconditioningtraining #dogbehaviourist #dogconfidence #dogbalance #dogharmony
Pack walk. Power of the pack. The walk is one of the fundamentals to connecting with your dog and establishing your leadership. A pack of BALANCED dogs can help one UNBALANCED dog during rehabilitation and behaviour modification. You can learn a lot from observing a pack of dogs and how they naturally behave towards each other. #dogpsychology #dogbehaviour #dogsofinstagram #dogslife #dogs #leadership
Teaching dogs to leave food. This is really good for dogs who are food motivated. This exercise drains the dog mentally and teaches them calmness, patience, respect, rules and boundaries around food. You can always use a lead when you’re practising this if you know your dog gets really excited around food. #leadership #dogbehaviour #dogpsychology #dogs
A really good video to show a dominant puppy that’s exhibiting aggression, being corrected by an alpha female. The female didn’t physically hurt the puppy but it was clear that she put him in his place for his behaviour. Dominance is controversial in the dog training world these days, but this is proof that dogs naturally behave like this towards each other. This is to establish everyone’s place in the pack, maintain respect and harmony. It’s so important to keep your dogs in their place in the family because if your dog or puppy doesn’t feels theres a leader… they’ll immediately take over. Unwanted behaviours will depend on your dog’s confidence and what unhealthy habits you have with the dog. The earlier you start the better, same goes with training. #dogbehaviour #dogpsychology #dogs #leadership #canecorso #puppies

Bad habits are hard to break. Creating new and healthy habits with your dog takes time, patience, consistency, discipline and repetition. Behaviour issues can stem from these bad habits. Behaviour issues such as; all types of aggression, anxiety, fear and nervousness. The size of the dog shouldn’t matter, whether it’s a Pomeranian or a Bull Mastiff the behaviour is the same and shouldn’t be ignored. They are all dogs at the end of the day and should behave like normal, domestic dogs. #dogbehaviour #dogpsychology #leadership #dogs
