Blue-green algae toxicity
We have been informed by some clients about potential blue-green algae in Chorlton Water-Park.
Blue-green algae, as may cause liver toxicity, neurological signs and be possibly fatal if left untreated. Please take care with animals, and prevent them from swimming or drinking from unknown water sources where it may be present.
If your pet exhibits any of the following symptoms after swimming in an outdoor body of water, please contact the vet immediately:
- generalised weakness and lethargy
- vomiting or diarrhoea, occasionally with blood in it
- excessive drooling
- pale mucous membranes
- neurological changes
- changes in temperament
- laboured breathing
- muscle tremors
- convulsions or fitting
- collapse or unconscious episodes
Please take care when allowing animals to swim in outdoor bodies of water, and contact the practice on 01618816868 if concerned.
