Merry rainy Sunday everyone!

We have been non-stop all Spring & Summer and are taking a well earned break this week!

We wont be putting our feet up for too long however! We are preparing a new programme and training material for our autumn season and getting set for a brand new intake of dogs!

Before I do I want to address a few things and set in stone my position regarding training, boarding and re-homing.

First and foremost, I am not a re-homing service! I am a training service and my mission is to provide you with the tools, skills and knowledge to help you and your dog live a more harmonious and fulfilling life together and keep dogs OUT of rehoming shelters!

Please do not contact me asking me if I can take in the dog you never bothered do the research for before taking them into your home.
I wont.

Please do not contact me asking me if I know a guy who knows a guy who can re-home that feral dog you never bothered to put in the work with and train.
I don’t.

Please do not contact me asking me if I can house and train your dog for a few weeks while you jet off to Magaluf for the 4th time this year.
I cant.

It is not a dog trainers job to take responsibility for an animal that you are so willing to dismiss from your life just as thoughtlessly as the day you brought them into it.

Next season, I will be taking in a new batch of dogs, ones with owners who I choose carefully, ones who prioritise the training and wellbeing of their dog over trying to shoehorn them into a lifestyle your not willing change and they are not able to cope with.

The magical thing about dogs is, they force us to stop being selfish and make compromises and changes to ourselves. And for those not willing to do that, im not the guy for you.

~Welcome to The Pack~

Hugo
5mth Corso X SBT

Complete chaos! Probably the best way to describe the mind this little (soon to be very big) man.

At 5 months old, young Hugo is already as big as Dotty and has an infinite pool of energy to boot! Hugo has missed out on some critical socialisation both environmental and with Dogs/humans due injury and other factors.

We are getting in early to give this dude some much needed exposure to some quality outdoors exploits, a solid group of friends and a some good old fashioned lead-work and communication skills before those guardian genetics of his kick in!

Photo-Dump Feature - BUG

Kicking things off with quite literally the biggest puppy I have ever met! Bug is goofy, clumsy, bouncy and bursting with love for everyone and everything! He's the Peter Pan of dogs, never had the opportunity to fully mature with most of his puppyhood spent at a shelter. And around 50kg of bouncy puppy wrecking-ball energy!

Bug, through a tremendous amount of collaborated effort from all of his family, Bug has had an incredible transformation over the past couple of months. From almost heading back to the shelter, to being a lovable, rounded member of the family.

****IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT****

It’s been a quite a while Ive engaged on social media with our antics.

Truth be told we have had an incredibly busy past season and I have been personally more and more time constrained attempting to balance necessity to care for a loved one with my work.

For the remainder of this summer (and possibly continuing forward) Ive took the decision to downscale the Behaviour Modification element of our business in order to accommodate for a change in circumstances, to able to provide myself with some breathing room to properly care for the ones I love the most.

Moving forward, our next season starts on 2nd July. Our unique Pack Training experiences and ExPawditions will be making up for the majority of our program. I will still be taking on new clients on a case-by-case basis and incorporating our behavioural work into what I firmly believe is hands down the most effective training environment a dog could ever have….the real world, with real dogs, and you guys can come too!

This week we will be blasting out the good feels with our biggest ever Photo dump, feature videos and exciting stories from last seasons 4-legged adventurers.

Stay tuned folks, see you out on the trials!

-Welcome to The Pack-

Di**le
6yr Cavapoo

For most of his life, little Di**le has had the privilege of being the star of the show, the bestest of boys! He’s had ALL the love and attention he could have ever possibly wanted!

And who could blame him? He’s sweet natured, charming, intelligent and handsome to boot!

Along came COVID, and it was like a dream come true for him, he had his parents all day everyday! Love on tap!

And like many dog who went through that period he grew a strong attachment to mum and dad not knowing the good times will eventually come to an end! Dogs find it difficult to adapt to such a change, and so did Di**le 😢

To make matters worse, the attention Di**le once knew and adored is now being split between him and a new addition to the family. Di**le is desperate! He needs mum and dad to love him unconditionally (which they do😂) and has resorted to far more drastic measures to get the attention he believes he deserves. Barking, pining, begging following his parents quite literally everywhere. Which appears to be working very well for him, however its not so desirable for mum and dad who can no longer catch a break.

We are going back to the very basics with di**le, we are teaching him the process and procedure to which he can return to a life of forever feeling loved. Teaching him to understand and learn better ways of getting mum and dad’s attention. And getting him out on so real adventures to boot!

We are back!

Our winter recess is over, Spring has sprung and we are kicking things into full gear as we look forward to (hopefully) a much sunnier and brighter season.

I have a few announcements to make:

- We have many new members with us who are all at different levels of training.

I have created a foundations training group where we can all share our training journeys, our troubles and our wins together as we shape our dog into a well rounded perfect pooches!

There will be weekly challenges, training videos and all of the usual help you’d come to expect mentoring wise in between our sessions.

This group is open to all members who want to run through the essentials in dog training as well as seasoned clients who wish to brush up on the basics.

- Next VIP livestream will be on Sunday, if you have any questions regarding dog training you wish to put forward for the stream please let us know or post it in our VIP members section. We will also be running our first prize draw for all members attending.

-Our spring season programme is up and running and fully bookable. So feel free to jump on our webpage and have a look as to what is on offer. Please follow our link below.👇

~Welcome to The Pack~
~Bamford~

Romanian Rescue - Labrador x Corgi (we think)

Quite often when I get a call to see a dog, the initial request from the owner is we work towards fixing a certain problem, be it pulling on a lead, reacting to a dog, continuous barking.

In Bamford’s case, he was highly aggressive towards people, men in particular. And our first meeting went exactly as expected….he wanted to kill me 😂. In fact asking Bamford to do anything other what he wanted to do would result in him immediately escalating to a level 10! Teeth out, lunging towards, thrashing and biting … whatever it takes to get his own way!

Which is why when I see a dog like this I question EVERYTHING. On the surface we see a dog with an attitude, a brat, he rules the roost and is top dog of the house. But we need dig a little deeper, in fact we need to dig much deeper! Because a dog is a reflection of his environment, his upbringing and his life experience of winning and losing. And Bamford has lost a-lot.

Today I spent some extended time with Bamford, really got to know him, We discovered he was taken off the streets of Romania along with the rest of his litter. He spent 7 MONTHS in the same shelter with all of his siblings, which doesn’t sound to bad on the surface, but for a dog this is the worst thing imaginable!

7 months of fighting for his survival, developing a deeply entwined codependency with them that is both the desire to stay with them for safety and the desire to avoid them at costs as the batter him and take away any scrap of a possession he could call his own.

The biting, the growling, the intense struggle he presents when things don’t go his way is a behaviour he has had to resort to simply stay alive! It worked for him, and he brought it with him to his new family in England.
The mistake we make as humans is to see his past and feel we must comfort him, reassure him every thing is fine now, do everything in our power to never upset him again! But it’s not what Bamford needs.

He needs a place to call his own, and the leadership of his new parents to convince him he is safe now, the world isn’t against him, and give him a new definition of ‘home’

With respect to the horses owner, I have taken down my previous video following her contacting me. She will be having a word with the riders herself and hopefully we can all learn a little something and move forward.

Our dogs handled themselves brilliantly amongst the party crashers, and this highlights perfectly the importance of preparing for the unexpected with our dogs! at the end of the day, nobody was harmed and hope we can move on an learn something at least 🤷‍♂️

Thank you for getting in touch and some good training all around!

-Welcome to The Pack-

Eric
German Shepherd X Border Collie

Hyper intelligent, incredibly handsome and very confused. Having been called to Eric to work on lead pulling and reactivity it became evident quite quickly the Eric was very special.

Without a point of reference, without a leader, an anchor that could spell out in black & white (forgive the pun 🤭) what he should be doing and provide stability and structure to his life, Eric he been able to figure out things for himself and act upon his instincts.

And Erics instincts are to guard the fort (GSD) and round up anything that moves (Collie) causing stress on his walks and house visitors to a minimum…

We simplify our communication, set very clear instructions and rules for him to follow and boy did he flourish!

Within ten minutes he was walking to heel with mum, his reactivity did not exist and enjoyed full and structured adventure free of any stress and anxiety.

He already knows what to do, he just needed a leader to unlock his potential, speaking a language he could understand. Next job is to work on skill transfer to the rest of his family, stay tuned!

*Marley update!*

Second session with Marley - The Staffordshire Bull Terrier who was told by “experts” he could never leave the house again…🙄

And oh wow was I in for a surprise 😮. This genuinely wasn’t the same dog I saw 2 week ago surely!

He was so calm, noticeably less stressed and had the manner of a gentleman.

His parents have taken him out everyday, wind rain or snow on full adventures to cafes, forests, parks. Their consistency and effort needs to be applauded.

With my expectations blown out of the water this week, I felt he was at an appropriate level to begin changing Marley’s emotional response to dogs.

And let Dotty work her magic 🪄s
