⚠️12 DANGERS OF CHRISTMAS⚠️

Christmas Culprit No: 4 - Plants 🪴

Poinsettias, mistletoe and holly might look pretty, but they can be very toxic to our furry friends ‼️

Digestive issues, vomiting, and several serious symptoms could occur!

Keep toxic plants out of reach and make sure your pets leaf them alone!

⚠️ 12 DANGERS OF CHRISTMAS ⚠️

Christmas Culprit No: 3 - Alcohol 🍷

Alcohol might be festive for us, but it’s dangerous for pets! 👎🏼
Even a small sip can cause vomiting, difficulty breathing, or worse!

Keep those cocktails and mulled wines well out of paw’s reach this holiday season! 🍷

🎅🏼⚠️12 DANGERS OF CHRISTMAS!!🎄⚠️

Christmas Culprit No: 2 - Macadamia Nuts 🌰

Macadamia nuts might be a tasty snack for us humans, but for animals this is far from the truth.

Just a few Macadamia nuts can lead to weakness, tremors and vomiting! 🤮

Nuts can be a serious hazard for pets! Some nuts are less dangerous than others but it’s generally safest to avoid giving your dog or cat any nuts!

Let’s keep those nutty treats to ourselves! 😋

🐾 We would like to introduce Millie Mae! 🐾

We had the privilege of caring for Millie Mae during her recent spay procedure.
Millie-Mae came in today for her post op check which went really well 💕

Millie-Mae is a wonderful patient and enjoyed lots of cuddles from the team 🩺✨

Spaying your female dog offers many health benefits, including reducing the risk of serious conditions like pyometra (a life-threatening uterine infection) and mammary cancer.

If you would like to discuss spaying, please call the practice to speak with one of our nurses 🩺 🧑🏽‍⚕️

Time to show off those winter ready looks! 📸 ❄️

As the temperature drops, it’s important to keep our furry friends warm and cosy.

Here are some essential tips to ensure they stay comfortable during the chilly season: ⬇️

🧥Bundle Up: Train your dog to wear a well-fitting jumper or jacket for warmth during walks or outdoor play. If there’s deep snow, keep them on a lead to avoid hidden dangers like frozen water or deep holes.

🐾 Limit Outdoor Time: Keep your cat’s outdoor adventures short in freezing or snowy conditions to protect their paws and ears from frost damage.

🛏️ Create a Cosy Spot: Make sure they have a soft, warm bed indoors where they can curl up and relax.

🔥 Keep the Indoors Toasty: Ensure your home is comfortably heated and offer extra blankets for snuggles.

Share a photo of your pet in their winter gear or cosy spot below! 👇🏼

📢 Patient Spotlight: Meet Bells! 🐾🐱

Today, the lovely Bells visited us for a dematting session with our skilled veterinary Nurses.

Long-haired cats like Bells can sometimes develop painful mats in their fur, which may be difficult to manage at home or even at a grooming salon.

As a veterinary clinic, we’re here to help when mats become a health concern. Our team can safely remove them, and for more anxious or aggressive patients, sedation is available to ensure their comfort and safety during the process.

Mats aren’t just a cosmetic issue—they can cause discomfort, skin irritation, and even infections if left untreated. If your cat needs help with matting that’s beyond the scope of routine grooming, we’re here to assist!

Call us to discuss your pet's needs or to schedule an appointment. 🐾

For example…

Check out these two adorable receptionists, Spirit and Polly, hard at work…well 🙄 one cutie is hard at work whilst the other one just sits in her bed looking pretty…but we don’t mind! 💕

They are the fur-babies of one of our lovely receptionists 🐶

Having Spirit and Polly in for a day has brought happiness to every member of our team here at Manchester Vet Centre. We hope they’ve brought happiness to you too during your pets visit to our practice! ☺️

🐾 Patient Spotlight: Sully 🐱 🐾

Yesterday, Sully came to see us after a troublesome blade of grass got lodged in his throat!
With the help of light sedation, we safely removed it, and he’s now feeling much better!

This is a great reminder for pet parents to keep an eye on what curious cats may nibble on during their outdoor adventures.
If your pet shows signs of discomfort, like coughing or gagging, don’t hesitate to reach out!

We’re glad we could help Sully get back to his happy, healthy self.
