I havent seen Cass in a few years i dont think🤔 but came to him today and he was beautifully presented to me lovely and clean. He had a leg blend, mane blend, tail blend, ear blend. You name it i blended it🤣 i make sure my clips are ready for the show ring. We dont need to leave them a few weeks for it to "level out"

Clip like this costs £60/65/70 dependant on size of horse ....

Ohhhh chilli 🌶 might feel a little chilly 🥶 tonight🤣 boff be gone!

This boy today🙄🤨🙈 i won...but jheez..

Hes looking at his mum as if to say "youuuu witch"

I love her smiling in the back ground though🤣🤣

Some horses (spade is a spade here) are nobberts. Like, there is no explanation why they act like they act. Its usually a "get off me, i dont like it, leave me alone". They arent in pain. They arent abused or scared. Theyre just plain nobberts 🤣

What they dont understand is why we do it. (Ghaa i wish we could explain would make life 10 times easier)

Today. Cyrus was said nobbert. Hes 4 year old. Coming up to his teenage tantrum years. Pawing impatient blah blah. Its the second time iv clipped him, but today we attempted legs...

How it started was not how it ended.😂

So Cyrus today decided that the little girl holding him would be the punch bag he could deflect his anger from me clipping his legs. He got two warnings from me and then he made contact with her...

Now if there is one thing you all know im very well known for dealing with, is difficult horses and their behaviour.

If i walk into a stable i am lead mare. And i will NOT tolerate a horse who gets spoiled rotten, treated like a king... rearing up,kicking out and pinning his little girl owner.

Today Cyrus learned a lesson that to kick you will be kicked. We mares dont tolerate an unsettled herd.

By the time wed finished with cyrus. He was stood, calm, relaxed, getting kisses and scratches. Because we fixed unacceptable behaviour. He was in no pain until he became violent.

"Omg abi you kicked a horse back?!". Yeh i did. He felt full force of the bottom of my dublin boot. A horse that now knows if he kicks a person hel get kicked back. A horse that wont eventually end up in an auction for meat because his behaviour would become so intolerable because hes pushed people about to get his own way.
A child thats chances of going to hospital have now plummeted because he realises the "oi" means behave and check yourself.

Im not here to school your horses. I mean i can. And i do it normally with firmness and respect towards the animal. But you come first. You are the one thing keeping that damded animal alive and fit. Its rare i raise a hand or foot to a horse but i will if it is because i know it has intention to hurt.

If a horse is scared. You take your time. Allow the horse to warm to the blades. Im not really a treat fan but sometimes treats work. But its usually a patience and quiet game for a horse snapping its leg away in fear. Its a completely different ball game.

Not every horse is an abuse case. Remember that. Cyrus is the complete opposite. A pampered prince. And my god does he know it.
And he uses his strength and size to his advantage.

But next time i go to Cyrus. Il turn the blades on, and like he got today. Hel get praise, and snuggles and kisses for standing still. And he will get the "look" if he tries to be violent again.

Horses dont see us as humans. We are food source and part of wherever we are in their mental pecking order.

He stopped his pawing. And barging. And he was giving kisses.

Cyrus wont be a nobbert next time i come. Cyrus will be like every other horse that i do, as i expect. Calm kind behaviour.

Hes a good boy. He just needed to realise those legs of his hurt.

We did some work with him at the end, as she mentioned she struggled to brush his legs. And he was perfect. His little ears, you could tell he was very pleased once wed got all the itchy hair off.

Im happy with it. Yeh it was stressful. But id prefer him to have come to me first than to go to someone who wasnt confident in dealing with that. Just shoving a sedative in him every time and thinking its problem solved..

A mantra i live by

"Teach your horse to be well behaved in all areas of its life. So if the day comes you may have to sell, they will never end up in the wrong hands"
