Shaping is a method of training a specific behaviour where we reinforce small approximations that the dog offers us, towards the final goal / behaviour. So here, we popped a blanket on the floor, that we want Toby to eventually lie on.
Inititially we marked him glancing at the blanket, then sniffing the blanket, then one paw on etc etc, until within 7/8 minutes he was lay down on the blanket. Then we started to build up some duration 😊
Without us saying a single word, apart from his marker word 👌 We release him several times to re set him, to see what he offers the next time, and to help him out 🐾

Bonfire night is coming! We know it's coming. Same time every year! Start desensitising.your pets now 😊 We don't know how Flo will be with fireworks, so we'll get to work now too 😊
Begin playing firework sounds on youtube / alexa very quiety, and slowly increase volume over next few weeks.
Pair sound with something delicious. Always in that order.
Fireworks THEN Food 😊 Slowly increase volume.👌

Bloody storms! Grandad's birthday lunch!
Flo was left completely home alone, for only, (i think) the 3rd time today. And as we were about to eat lunch, there was the biggest bloody clap of thunder! 🌧🐾🌩
And then no more after it. As there was no more, and it would have taken me 10 mins to get home, i ate my lunch really quick and then rushed home. Flo was calm, but awake when i walked back through the door 😊
Poor girl. Happy birthday dad. Thanks for all you do to help keep Short Bark 'N' Strides running smoothly 🐾
