This is a post I'm forwarding on.
All dog owners who want their dogs looking after please read and pass on.

Feeling disheartened, frustrated and concerned.... Why do we pay an absolute fortune for our level 3 Qualifications, Licencing Fee, Insurances, marketing, advertising,Tax..... and full time experience. Work what feels like 24/7 To literally be flooded with so many Unlicensed, unregulated, unexperienced places!! These are animals lives being put at risk- an example of this local to me, just this week another dog died whilst left outside in the extreme heat!!! By yet another Unlicensed boarder 😡🤬🤬🤬

Just seen another Rover app advertising as home border and Pet Sitter - But is unlicenced to offer homeboarding....when I enquired was told insurance is covered by Rover, and that's deemed okay!

Don't get me started on dog swaps 🤬🤬🤬

I feel generally upset that these people operate without a single care!! outside of the rules we work so hard to follow!!

I have permitted this because people really need to understand the pitfalls of using an UNLICENCED business.
As for the Rover carer, just because Rover says they are insured...this is invalidated if they do not have a licence which also invalidates the owners own dog insurance.

🐾 I know many people won't read this. But if you are a dog owner who wants your dog looking after please read. 🐾

A stark, disturbing and frightening reality & reminder for owners. Use a licenced business or you may fall foul to this happening.
This is not the first time this has happened to owners nor will it be the last sadly. But this is the risk you run by using an UNLICENCED person. Please do your due diligence and if in doubt contact their council and ask.

The same goes for carers who are unlicenced and using Rover, Petbacker, Pawshake, Bark as their platform to advertise. If they don't have a valid licence, they are then uninsured which may affect your own pets insurance.
Licenced businesses are accountable for their actions, known to the council, compliant to lawful regulations and have their home & garden inspected before the council will award them a licence.

Groups like this & the other one I manage will support you. Awareness is key, that's why you will see posters left by other owners & by licenced businesses on other groups...to raise awareness of the risks of not using a LICENSED service.
