I just want to talk about something real quick.

Who saw the lady on Britain’s Got Talent on Saturday night with her dog? This is exactly what proofing looks like in action.

At home, her dog probably nailed his piano playing and other musical tricks. But when it came to performing on a massive stage, with bright lights, a roaring audience, and an intense atmosphere—it all fell apart. Not because he didn’t know the behaviour, but because it hadn’t been proofed in that kind of environment.

And this is exactly what happens in everyday dog training.

You teach your dog to sit at home, and they do it perfectly. You ask for a sit in the garden, and they’re still spot on. But then you try on a busy street, at the park, or when waiting to cross the road—and suddenly, it’s like they’ve never heard the word before.

It’s not that they’re being stubborn or ignoring you. It’s that they’re simply not ready for that level of distraction yet.

Proofing is a crucial step in training—just because your dog can do a behaviour in one setting doesn’t mean they can do it anywhere. If you’re struggling to see results, this is probably why!

Saying goodbye to Harley, the spaniel, after completing his behaviour training package! 🐾

We've worked on managing his reactivity outside of the home on walks, as well as curbing his noise sensitivity in the house & garden.

Harley made amazing progress, and we couldn't be prouder of his journey. He worked so well in his final session that he ended up falling asleep 😂—well-deserved, buddy!

Today, we say goodbye to sweet Winnie, the poodle puppy, after completing her puppy training package! 🐩✨

We've spent time mastering puppy basics, loose lead walking, and recall so she’s all set for those amazing holidays with her family.

It's time to say goodbye to Bailey after completing our adolescent dog package! 🐶

Over the past few weeks, we've focused on loose lead walking, recall, calm manners in the home, and all the basics to set Bailey up for success.

He's made such amazing progress, and we're so proud of how far he's come.

Welcome to Quay to Success Dog Training, Nico the Maltipoo! 🐾🎉

Nico is a little pocket rocket full of energy, and he’s here to learn some important puppy basics in our Puppy Package. We’ll be working on helping him stay calm at home—especially around the cats—and tackling a bit of reactivity towards other dogs on walks.

I’m excited to see this spirited pup transform and learn how to relax and enjoy his surroundings. Let’s get started, Nico! 🐶✨

Saying goodbye is always the hardest part! 😢 Before I went on holiday, I sent off Tilly, the Labrador Wirehaired Pointer puppy, with so much pride and a little bit of a heavy heart.

Tilly has come such a long way with her lead walking skills and in her new home —she’s grown into a confident, well-mannered pup who’s a joy to walk with. I’m so proud of all the progress she’s made, and I know she’s going to continue to thrive with her new family.

I’m going to miss you lots, Tilly, but I’m so excited for all the adventures ahead for you and your family! 🐾💛

What a transformation! 🌟 Nala the Cockapoo wasn’t too keen on her crate when she came home at 10 weeks old, but after positive experiences and not rushing Nala, she’s now calm and enjoying her cozy space at 17 weeks! 🐾

Seeing Nala grow more comfortable with her crate has been so rewarding.
Crate training is a fantastic skill, especially in an apartment building. It gives Nala a safe and cozy space of her own, helps with house training, and minimizes stress when left alone. Plus, it keeps her out of trouble when her dad needs to go out and buy a pint or milk without worrying about her!

Super proud of you, Nala—keep thriving! 🐶🏠
