ROLDA UK

ROLDA UK ROLDA UK activity consists of fundraising and rehoming of Romanian dogs in British homes (including transport of these dogs to UK)

ROLDA is an internationally supported charity working in Romania to efficiently solve the appalling problem of the country’s millions of homeless animals. Our keys focuses are rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming dogs and cats from our private shelters, but we also offer practical help and education locally to low-income pet owners. ROLDA campaigns nationally for animal rights and provides humanit

arian aid during disasters like the war in Ukraine. ROLDA UK is a small charity acting as “supporting organization” for the partner charity ROLDA Romania, the “global entity” to:
• raise awareness and financial support for ROLDA Romania for animals in need and for the poor Romanian communities struggling to look after their pets responsibly;
• find homes for rescue dogs by ROLDA Romania team, alongside compiling applications for grants to sustain our work;
• support other programs and campaigns initiated by ROLDA Romania, including providing Worldwide aid to animals and their people located in areas affected by natural of humane made disasters e.g. the war in Ukraine;
• build a network of fosters careers in order to bring dogs over for people to meet before they make a decision and also as a back-up for any unsuccessful adoptions.

When our ROLDA Hero in Ukraine found Busya, she was a tiny puppy crying out in pain, unable to move 💔

X-rays revealed an old, complex fracture that had never healed properly. Despite her size and the pain she was in, Busya faced surgery with incredible bravery.

A stabilising device was fitted to help her leg heal, and now, she’s finally pain-free, safe, and surrounded by love as she recovers.

Her journey isn’t over yet, but thanks to your compassion, she’s getting the second chance she deserves.

Can you help support Busya’s ongoing care and recovery? Support her journey: https://rolda.org/donate/ 🐶❤️‍🩹

Little Mira was rescued by one of our incredible ROLDA Heroes in Tulcea, after being found in terrible condition by a kind tourist 💔

Mira was found alone beside an abandoned shack on the outskirts of town, missing half of one of her back legs, with a painful wound on her nose, and so weak she could barely stand.

At first, we thought she was a kitten. But at the clinic, tests revealed she’s actually around 2–3 years old, she was just severely malnourished and fighting to survive.

She was raced to the vet and thankfully, her bloodwork was stable and her FIV/FeLV test came back negative. She’s now been spayed, and a biopsy from her nose has been sent for examination to determine the cause of the ulcer.

No animal should ever have to endure what Mira has. Thankfully, because of your support, she’s now safe, cared for, and surrounded by love for what may be the first time in her life.

If you're able to, please help us support the ongoing care of Mira and others just like her: https://rolda.org/donate/ 🐾

✨ Can you picture this sweet face waiting by the door to welcome you home every day? Meet Lara - the little dog with a big heart who’s ready to love you endlessly 💙💛❤️

Rescued from Ukraine, Lara is one of the lucky few we’ve been able to relocate to our Romanian shelters to help them find loving homes more easily. After everything she’s been through, she’s ready for a peaceful, happy life filled with love and care.

At 6 years old and around 6kg, Lara is a friendly, affectionate Shih Tzu mix who walks beautifully on a leash and adores human attention. She could easily live with another calm dog but would be just as happy being the centre of your world.

Despite her cataracts, Lara doesn’t let anything stop her from enjoying life and will make a wonderful companion for anyone who believes home isn’t complete without a loyal little friend by their side 🥹

She’s vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, spayed, and will be ready to travel to her forever home from October 2025.

Could you be the one to give Lara her second chance? Comment “ADOPT” and we’ll send you the link to apply 🐾

📍 While adoptions are available only for the UK, Sweden, and USA (under certain conditions), Lara welcomes sponsors from all over the world 🌎

Murashka just took her first steps! 🥹

A few weeks ago, we shared her story, she was found by our ROLDA Hero Inessa in Ukraine with a broken pelvis, in so much pain she could barely move.

We weren’t sure she’d ever walk again, but here she is, proving us all wrong ❤️‍🩹

We couldn’t be more proud of this brave little cat, and so grateful to her foster carers for giving her the safe, loving space she needed to heal.

Help us give more animals like Murashka the chance to recover and thrive: https://rolda.org/donate/

Sweet little Jasmine was adopted from ROLDA by her wonderful family in 2020, and since then, her life has completely transformed 💛

The first few months weren’t easy as she learned what it meant to have a home and family of her own for the very first time. But today, Jasmine is the sweetest, happiest little dog - always by her family’s side, from cuddles on the sofa to adventures outdoors 🥹

Her mom recently shared that “adopting a dog from ROLDA is the best thing you can do,” and we couldn’t agree more 🐾

Drop a ❤️ in the comments if you believe every senior dog deserves a soft, peaceful retirement filled with love and comfort 🐾

Meet Marley, our distinguished little gentleman who has been through more than any dog should.

At around 10 years old and 7kg, Marley is a Shih Tzu mix with a calm, affectionate nature. He loves people, enjoys gentle walks, and gets along well with other dogs. He’s the perfect match for someone who wants a loyal companion to share quiet moments with - whether that’s a cosy nap on the sofa or a slow stroll in the sunshine.

After such a traumatic few years, what Marley needs most now is peace, a warm home, soft bed, and a family who will love him for the rest of his days ❤️‍🩹

Marley is vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and neutered. He’s healthy apart from cataracts in both eyes and will be ready to travel to his forever home from October 2025.

Could you be the one to give Marley the retirement he deserves? Visit: https://sponsoradog.rolda.org/dog/marley/ 🐶

📍 While adoptions are available only for the UK, Sweden, and USA (under certain conditions), Marley welcomes sponsors from all over the world 🌎

Our Story

ROLDA mission is to save responsibly, efficiently and humanely the strays and abused animals in Romania.

It all began with Printz, the German Shepherd Dana found abandoned in her local park. He had been in a dog fight and was terribly wounded. Dana carried him back to her parent’s apartment where, with love and rehabilitation, he made a full recovery. Due to aggressive behaviour from his many dog fights, Dana was unable to personally rescue another dog until he passed in 2002, but saving this soul sparked a desire to help more suffering strays and she worked tirelessly to persuade friends and family to lend her their homes and gardens to provide safe shelter for any stray that needed her.

Dana, only speaking Romanian and a stranger to the computer, began building the foundations of ROLDA, quickly identifying international countries as a life saving source of support. ROLDA started as a small group, with a very modest website but enough to start fundraising. In 2005 Dana attended a Dog’s Trust shelter management course in London and ROLDA build their first set of kennels while keeping the highly regarded UK model in mind. This model insulated dogs from the bitter Romania winter and gave them comfort where they previously had none.

With sheer determination to help the millions of stray dogs in her country and in collaboration with the largest steel producer in Europe, Dana organised the build of a large, modern shelter, capable of housing up to 700 dogs. ROLDA’s shelters have been an example to other Romanian animal rescue organisations and have attracted visitors from far and wide.
