Rest in Peace, Sweet Buddy

Today, with heavy hearts, we had to say goodbye to our beloved Buddy as he crossed the Rainbow Bridge. After testing positive for FIV and FCoV and facing kidney failure, we had to make the heartbreaking decision to let him go with love, rather than see him suffer. His condition meant that he wouldn’t have been strong enough for the surgery he desperately needed on Monday, and without it, he would have been in unbearable pain.

Though Buddy was only with us for a short time, he was showered with love every single day. Over the last two weeks, he knew nothing but kindness, warmth, and care. He was safe, adored, and never alone. We wish we could have had more time with him, but we take comfort in knowing that he left this world surrounded by love.

This is one of the hardest posts we’ve ever had to write. For the foreseeable future, we have no choice but to close our doors to new intakes. Our vet bills have skyrocketed, and we simply can’t afford to take in any more cats right now.

Every cat that comes through our doors deserves the best care possible, but this month alone, we’ve been hit with case after case of severely ill and injured cats, and we’re drowning in costs.

I’ve not been this stressed in a long time and I need help to help these babies.

Buddy, for example. He’s been straying for years—an unneutered male left to fight for survival. His ears are folded down from years of battle scars, his body is riddled with wounds, and his mouth is in agony. He also has an infected ear with polyps in and In just one week, he’s already cost us £209.70, and that’s just the start. He needs:
🐾 Four teeth removed
🐾 A full dental
🐾 Neutering
🐾 A polyp removed from his ear
🐾 FIV/FELV testing

And Buddy isn’t the only one. We have two more cats needing full dentals, each costing around £400. The reality is, we simply don’t have the funds to keep going at this rate.

Right now, we feel like we’re up sh*t creek without a paddle, and there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. We’re honestly terrified about how we’re going to get through this month.

You can see on the first invoice our balance £1700 for just 11 days. 11 DAYS!!! I dread to think what it will be by the end of the month 😭

Ohh eggnog I’m sorry no one wants you 💔

Im sorry people can’t look past your colour or your age.

I’m sorry that people won’t give you a chance to flourish, I know you’re a little scared but I know your wonderful soul is going to shine through eventually.

Eggnog is a wonderful boy approximately 6-7 years old and plenty of life left. He’s scared. He doesn’t understand and he just needs to learn that humans aren’t bad. He cowers being stroked, god knows what’s happened to him in the past but he’s certainly not feral. He just needs time and patience but no one wants to give him that.

Please. Could anyone be the person to take him on? Give him the best life he so so deserves ❤️

Okay, I know it looks a bit gruesome! BUT!! MISTY CAN SEE!!!!

I can’t believe the difference in misty already! His eyes are open albeit swollen and sore (don’t worry he’s on the good stuff)

I can’t WAIT to see how this guy heals and gets better now!!

I know this isn’t the usual post from CLAC but, it’s a cause that’s extremely important.

My sister in law unfortunately lost her mum not so long ago to cancer. Having known the pain of seeing someone deteriorate right in front of you over a few months I know how hard this is especially when it’s a parent. I lost my dad at age 17 to liver cancer and it’s not something I’d wish on my worst enemy.

Leeoni is running 10k in aid of her mum to raise as much as she can to support people living with brain cancer and I would be so grateful if anyone can help support her on her journey.

His surgery is tomorrow!
A couple weeks ago we took in this boy who desperately needs double entropion surgery. We had to get multiple opinions on his eyes as they are so severely affected, entropion is where the eye lids turn inwards and the eyelashes brush on the eyeball itself. As you can imagine this is excruciatingly painful and vets recon he has lived with this all his life. Since being in our care he has been on endless amounts of painkillers, eye drops and eye l**e keeping him as comfortable as possible until we could make a decision on how extensive his surgery needed to be due to him also having extremely long eye lids and the best course of action so he wouldn’t have to have another surgery in future.

it is now costing approximately £580 not including his neutering so we’re probably looking at £750 including neutering and vaccinations microchip etc etc. w

we need to give misty a better life and pain free so he can live his years out in comfort and happiness.

please could you spare a £1 or £2 towards mistys life changing surgery?

6 years of being in rescue I have never seen such neglect, this past month has been awful. The amount of ill cats we’ve had and still got is heartbreaking. We have 2 cats in at the moment both needing thousands of pounds worth of investigations and surgeries I don’t know the estimates for these two yet as we’re waiting for our specialist consultation, but, we neutered and spayed over 30 cats last month with their vacs chip flea worm etc and it doesn’t come cheap plus all the ill cats that we’ve had to fix too.

We have one cat coming in on Monday who had a broken jaw. And has had major surgery to fix her, possible RTC? Kicked in the head? We don’t know. But what we do know is she’ll be safe.

I am BEGGING for help. My vet bill is at £3,741.15p BUT it would have been £4,741.15p as an anonymous donor donated £1000 straight to our vets. Who ever you are you’re absolutely incredible. Thank you.

Every month we’re seeing an increase in our vet bill and if it’s more next month I don’t know genuinely how we’re going to survive, I’m sick to death of having to beg for help every time it comes to the end of the month. This is just a small bill every month compared to what we have to pay just to RUN the rescue. You don’t think about the little things like card machine bills, insurance, wages, website fees, utilities, specialty food, even down to washing powder.

We’re still awaiting a response from the charity commission for CIO status.

I know everyone’s struggling, I know the cost of living crisis has hit everyone so hard and I feel so guilty but could you spare your coffee money just one day and help us? If all 10,000 people spared just £1 we would be able to pay off 2 months worth of vet bills. Please we’re running on fumes and I don’t know how much longer CLAC will be able to cope.

Luna needs her forever!

I NEED 5 SPECIAL PEOPLE!!!

We have these beautiful babies all needing their furever homes. Out of the 52 cats we have 44 of them are black or black and white.

These colours are over looked. It’s so sad. Some of our cats are needing a home who can understand them and take their time learning that not all humans are bad. Some are absolute cuddle bugs and just want a couch to curl up on.

If I had 5 of these cats who are over looked because ‘they’re not cuddly enough’ or ‘they’re too old’ or ‘they’re not the right colour’ we could take in so many more cats that are needing us to save their lives.

We need to help save more cat’s lives and I can only do that with the help of adopters ❤️

Please if you’re considering a cat please think about the rescue cats that are always over looked and left behind especially if they’re a pair or a trio.

PETAL NEEDS HELP!!

Just before Christmas we took in a beautiful black cat in off the streets after her owner died she was turfed out with no where to go. Petal is 13 years old and we couldn't allow her to be out in that cold weather.

After her health check it was deemed she needed a grade 3 dental which comes in at quite a price.

She needs this dental so she can eat comfortably and live a happy life with 2 of our volunteers forever and ever

Does anyone have any royal canin gastrointestinal food spare please?

We currently have a beautiful bengal cross who we need to try on this food to try and settle her tummy.

I have ordered a case of 48 pouches which is £45 so not cheap if it doesn't work!
