Happy new year everybody!!
We hope you all had a lovely Christmas, new year and 2023 in general! And you’re ready to take on 2024! We’re excited for another year of pampering our regular customers and meeting lots of new ones. As I announced in my previous post there is going to be some changes this year…
Pricing:
Some of our prices will be changing. We will still be following our general guide which is (small dog - from £35) (medium dog - from £40) (large dog - from £45) ect, however ALL curly coated dogs will now be from £40. Im afraid their coats take us longer to work on. As they take us more time, they cost us more money to do so I’m afraid we’ve had to put that price up. This includes All poodle & bichons, their crosses and any doodley dog breed. Additionally dogs of a certain breed that are larger in size, (Eg larger cockapoos) will be charged more as again, it takes us longer to complete a full groom. You will be looking at paying around £45 for a larger cockapoo.
Behaviour:
If afraid if your dog isn’t a fan of the groomers and is difficult to groom we will have to add a behavioural fee onto your groom. This is because these dogs again take us longer to groom and therefore cost us more money. But it is also because we take a risk by grooming these dogs. I personally have been to A&E after a bad dog bite that put me out of work for 2 weeks. I have a scar on my hand that I will live with forever. We will give every dog at least 1 chance and we do use muzzles if need be but if we do not feel comfortable and safe grooming your dog they may be sent home early and not allowed back. If your dog does have behavioural problems at the groomers then please let us know before booking in so we are aware. We may advise going to a vet groomers where they are able to sedate your dog if we’re unable to safely complete a full groom on your dog in our salon. We try our very best to work with every dog breed and make their experience as positive as possible for them. We may recommend bringing your dog in more frequently for baths and tidys between full grooms to get them use to the experience. If you have a puppy we advise bringing them into the salon as soon as they’ve had their injections to get them use to the experience. We offer puppy grooms which include a bath, dry, brush out, tidy of the face, feet and hygiene area to slowly introduce them to the process. These start at £25. Your puppy will need an average of 3 puppy grooms before we will be able to complete a full groom, so the sooner you bring them in, the better. Again this number depends on your specific puppy. Some may need more, some may need less.
Matting:
If your dog comes in matted because they’re not on a regular schedule with us there will be an extra charge. The reason for this is because it takes us longer to work on a matted coat, therefore more time costs us more money. Also working on a dirty and matted coat damages our equipment quicker which leads to more expenses on our end. The matting fee will depend on how bad the matting is, how difficult it is to remove and how long it takes us. You could expect a fee of £5-£15 added onto your full grooming bill if your dog comes in matted. To prevent this we advise you bring your dog in on a regular schedule and book your next appointment before leaving the salon, you’re then guaranteed an appointment when your dog is next due and you’re not waiting a couple weeks to get in. The general rule of thumb here is to bring your dog in every 6-8 weeks. Curly coated dogs and dogs with longer coats may need to come sooner than that. And dogs with shorter hair and a coat that’s easier to manage may be able to come less than that. If you’re not sure then feel free to ask.
Fleas:
Please do not bring your dog into the salon with fleas. Last year we had numerous dogs come in with fleas and we want to reduce the spread as much as possible. If you notice your dog itching more frequently or you see fleas on your dog. Please go to the vets BEFORE your grooming appointment and get some flea treatment. Pop this on the back of your dogs neck straight away and wait a few days before bringing your dog in to us so it can work its magic. If we notice live fleas on your dogs in the salon they will be sent home immediately and you will still be expected to pay the full price for the groom plus a flea fee which could be £5-£10 extra depending on how badly infested your dog is with fleas. We recommend your dog is on flea treatment monthly anyway to prevent this from happening.
Last minute cancellations and no shows:
If you cannot make your appointment we now require 48 hours notice to give us enough time to fill this slot with someone else. If you do not let us know in time or do not show up at all you will be expected to pay 50% of the groom. You will not be allowed to rebook with us until the fee is paid. We had a number of no shows and last minute cancellations last year which really affected our business. We lost a lot of money and could have offered those appointments to a dog who needed it. We still have to pay out rent, bills and wages whether you show up or not so giving us a heads up would really help us out. If people fail to adhere to this then we will have to start taking deposits beforehand therefore if you do not show or let us know too late the fee is already covered.
Thank you for taking the time to read this post. I’m sorry it was so long but it’s important you read it all so you understand how our salon is going to work moving forward and so there is no surprises. We hope you all understand why we’ve had to put these rules into place, we know the majority of you are absolutely lovely and loyal so we really appreciate every single one of you. There will be some signs going up in the salon soon with all these details on again for those who do not have social media.
Here’s to a wonderful 2024 to each and every one of you. Let’s smash another year of dog grooming! 💪🏻🐾
