Happy new year to you all!!
Thank you for all your support and allowing me to care for all your guinea pigs during 2023! I thoroughly enjoy looking after your pigs whilst you are away - as well as giving them pamper sessions too!
As you are aware - boarding facilities have reduced therefore cage availability is less (especially during busy periods of school holidays). I am already fully booked some dates - if you know your dates - please check with me and book in.
Evening and Saturday grooming appointments are now being taken too. I unfortunately had quite a few people not show up or cancel last minute for grooms last year - please be considerate when booking to keep to appointments or let me know asap so I can book others in.

A home has now been found for these boys. Thank you
Please help find these boys a new home. They were given away in a plastic tub by children to someone who couldn’t care for them . Peanut had eye injury most likely to be caused by hay poke which has now completely healed. Paddington has an old, healed scar near his nose which looks to be an old tear.
They are bonded boys who are very friendly and easy to handle. They would need to be indoors. Their ages are unknown.
Can you offer a lovely new home?

Six days and Peanuts eye is completely healed from his hay poke. A very lucky piggy!!
He’s now looking for an indoor postcode with his friend asap. Very easy to handle and friendly boys!

Very nearly healed!!! His eye is going back to a beautiful brown colour and no long red and swollen, the ulcer has nearly cleared too.
Hay poke is so common and can cause so much damage very quickly.
Often people have come to my house late at night to help identify and remove hay from pigs eyes - stopping any major issues occurring. I always have the emergency drops in just in cases any issues arise with eyes.

Tonight I have taken on two rescue guinea pigs. I expected to be able to find a lovely home quickly for these “girls” - only to discover they are in fact beautiful boys and one has a severe eye injury caused most likely by hay poke. I couldn’t turn them away as they had been dumped with someone who can not look after them. Luckily I have pain relief in and medication to treat and if he doesn’t respond quickly - I’ll take him to the vets asap. Luckily I have lots of experience caring for pigs eyes! I know how bad they can look but also how quickly they respond to treatment too. The collage is one I treated a few years ago and only took two weeks to heal. They will then be looking for a lovely indoor home to pamper them.

Thank you everyone for all your likes and lovely comments about the revamped boarding and grooming room in the cavy cave!!
Just a reminder that cages have been reduced to just the one room going forward - meaning limited availability.
School holidays get extremely busy therefore it is advised if you know your dates to book in asap to avoid disappointment. I already have lots of bookings throughout next year and Christmas 2023 has been full for many months.

October half term dates (20th October until 30th October) are completely full for boarding.
Evening groomings are limited going forward . My next available Saturday appointment is the 21st October. If you know any dates it’s advised to book in in advance as cage numbers are being reduced dramatically. Thank you

Eddie and Dora (both girls) are 👀 for an indoor 🏠 due to circumstances changing. They are very chilled 3 year olds who can often give a death nap scare!!

This is my little Alice who arrived at the rescue in an polystyrene box with boys and babies after being threatened to be dumped somewhere if not taken in back in 2018. Alice only has one eye and is completely blind in it and was mum to three babies. Luckily she was not pregnant again. She’s been living with me since with a group of girls. She’s so gorgeous and finally found her way on the hammock for the first time today!

What a difficult month it’s been after losing my dad and my lovely Wilbur pig, Peggy being diagnosed with lymphoma and today I had to make the heart breaking decision to let 11 year old Cher go due to her legs getting old and tired. BUT I have finally managed to get away for a well deserved rest with my family and already welcomed lots of lovely boys and girls who have come to stay for their holidays! A busy summer ahead with lots of piggy cuddles!!!

Great timing for veggie shop today!!
Brin is going for neutering early tomorrow morning at Heywood exotic vets - I’ve made him a packed lunch to take with him to munch on throughout the day. After 6 weeks he’ll be able to join my girls!

How excited are little Iris and Dolly who are two little skinnies that have come for the first time with their big sisters Rose and Mabel and all their brothers too. Kevin and Wilbur, Charlie and George, Eric and Dave all have settled in just as quick as usual.

Today this old lady from part of my school came to live with me and my herd of girls. Can you believe she is 10 years old and still going strong! She has some feet and mobility issues which will be kept an eye on and treated. She’s had a pamper too today and not moved from munching the hay. She’s certainly got a very big appetite!!

Looking for a home!
Beautiful Pom Pom and Brin are two fluffy minipli (new breed of guinea pig with fluffy medium length hair) boys looking for a new indoor home together after circumstances have changed. Pom Pom is 18 months old and Brin is under 1 year old and happily live together. The boys would need to live indoors into a set up like they are used to.
They are currently boarding here but it’s been a very difficult decision for their owner to find them a lovely new home - please make any enquiries directly to Louise on 07340 153593

Hello.
Just a reminder - as from today boarding prices have increased to £5 per day for one guinea pig, £7 per day for two guinea pigs sharing a cage with an additional £2 per guinea pig in the same cage. I provide everything but the dry food which I ask you to bring along please.
Pampers are still the same price of £15 each for long haired and £10 each for short haired guinea pigs.

If you know your holiday dates - book in to avoid disappointment as already I’m getting full throughout the year and not just school holidays.

This medication is needed twice daily to treat a poorly guinea pig with mites that has caused so much discomfort to his skin leaving it so red and swollen resulting in seizures due to the pain mites can cause. Mites (and lice) can be caught through any hay and a simple preventative can be given in the form of ivermectin drops once a week for three weeks and they are covered for 4/6 months. Luckily this little piggy is on the road to recovery with medicated baths and creams too.
