Although rawhide chews come in lots of fun shapes and sizes this Christmas, your dog can easily chew off and swallow large pieces, leading to a potential choking hazard or intestinal obstruction. What’s even worse is how rawhide is created. Rawhide is a by-product of the leather industry and are often washed and sterilized with a variety of (often harmful) chemicals, such as sodium sulfide, lime, chromium salts, bleach, and hydrogen peroxide. It is then molded and dyed to form what you see in pet stores today.
Please avoid them at all cost, no matter how pretty they market them! 🥴

If you think it’s ok to give your dog that piece of fat from your roast pork or the last piece of Cabana, think again. These can give your dog an upset tummy and can cause pancreatitis. Pancreatitis can cause vomiting, nausea, dehydration, and worsening illness. It can even leave your dog with a lifelong sensitivity to fat, and they’ll have to be on a special diet for the rest of their lives!

🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨Please DO NOT BUY any of these.
THROW THEM AWAY if your dog gets one as a gift.
Giving rawhide to a dog is NEVER a good idea.

Many of these so called treats end up with the dog “enjoying” some time in a veterinary surgery over Christmas. The vast majority of these rawhide products and treats come from China.

The chews are made from cattle or horse hides and their journey starts with the hides being soaked in a toxic sodium sulfide to remove the hair and fat. More chemicals are used in order to split the hide into layers which is then washed with hydrogen peroxide to give the white “pure” look and remove the rancid smell.

Now comes the pretty festive colors and the glue to form cute shapes.
On testing, these chews have shown traces of ARSENIC, MERCURY, CHROMIUM and FOMALDEHYDE.

If that wasn’t bad enough, they regularly cause INTESTINAL BLOCKAGES, POISONING from chemical residue and CHOKING.
The chews get slippery when wet and are near impossible to get hold of to save a choking dog.

Save yourself and your dog all the heartache, expense and suffering.
STAY AWAY FROM RAWHIDE!!!
