Important to never forget post treatment licks! 🙈 🐶
Utilising NMES to stimulate muscle activity in the pelvic limbs acutely post spinal surgery has been shown to improve long term functional outcomes for dogs when used as part of a multi modal physiotherapy approach. (Martins et al 2021) Looking forward to working more with this lovely dog to progress her rehabilitation and get her back to enjoying life! #nmes #acpat #physio #caninephysio #ramp #frenchie #frenchbulldog #rehabilitation
Improving trigger points
A lovely response to treatment for this sweet lurcher who was very sore on assessment. She had developed a lot of muscular soreness secondary to compensation for osteoarthritis in her wrist and shoulder.
In the first clip, during assessment, you can hear her vocalising her discomfort as well as visual muscular fasciculations as I palpate through her epaxial muscles.
In the second clip, post treatment, we can see a much happier dog and much improved muscle tone.
This goes to show how much difference we can make with Physiotherapy in just one session.
This dog was treated with a combination of manual therapy and massage techniques as well as utilising Biomag therapy to improve pain. We have followed up with some baited stretches and hope that we will see an improved reaction in her next session.

Part of our session with the lovely Kes was working on his lead walking. Kes is a beautiful bouncy Labrador pup with mild elbow dysplasia and pulling on the lead has been exacerbating some of his muscular soreness. This has also caused his owner to develop thumb and wrist pain due to repetitive strain. The benefit of choosing an ACPAT physiotherapist is that I not only treat animals but also have extensive experience treating human patients so was able to support them both in a joint appointment. Alongside our physio check up for both Kes and his owner, we integrated some training support to help improve his walking on a loose lead to try and avoid further injury to either Kes or his owner! #acpat #physiotherapy #dogtraining #charteredphysiotherapist #caninephysio #labrador
