✨ 1st of December vibes…
For me, today marks the start of the Christmas countdown. I love this time of year — my kids love it, my grandson loves it… (Mr A? Not so much 😅).

I spent the weekend fully Christmasifying my house 🎄 and soaking up all the festive feels.

But there’s one place Christmas won’t be making an appearance…

✨ Our bereavement room.
Whenever I make decisions here at the crematorium, I stop and ask myself:
“Would I want this if my own pet had just passed?”

As much as I adore Christmas, I know it can be painful to be reminded of a holiday that’s traditionally filled with family, joy, and togetherness — especially in a moment of loss.

So our special room will remain exactly as it is:
Calm. Comforting. Christmas-free.
A peaceful space for you to say your final goodbye, with nothing added that might make that moment harder. 💛

For some of you, this weekend will be one of your “firsts”…
The first time putting up Christmas decorations without your beloved pet.

As you open the Christmas boxes, you might come across their stocking, spot that bauble your cat wouldn’t leave alone, or find little reminders of the moments that made past years so special.
These memories can be comforting… but they can also hurt.

Christmas isn’t a joyful time for everyone, and for many, it’s a reminder of who’s missing. If that’s you this year, please know you’re not alone. 🤍

Here are a few gentle ways to remember and honour your pet this Christmas:
🧦 Write a letter to your pet and tuck it into their stocking
🐾 Buy the treats you would have bought for them and donate them to an animal shelter
🕯️ Light a candle each night in their memory
🎄 Add a special decoration to your tree to honour them

✨ APHA Inspection Day!
Today we had our APHA inspection… and even after all this time, the nerves still kick in (no idea why 😅).

Every single thing was checked —
📁 Records
🔄 Processes & procedures
🏷️ Storage
🚐 Vehicle
✨ Cleaning routines

The inspector went through everything… and then said:
“You should be very proud of yourself.”

And you know what? We are.
Because every part of our service is built around care, respect and doing things properly for your pets. 💛

Deciding to bring a new pet into your life is never easy. We all go through the questions…
“Should we?”
“Are we trying to replace our other pet?”
“What if it doesn’t feel the same?”

The truth is: you’ll know when (or if) you’re ready.
For some it’s days. For others, weeks or months. And for some, it’s never — and that’s okay. There is no right or wrong, and absolutely no guilt required.

But for today, let’s just celebrate this new little soul bringing joy, love, and healing into a beautiful family once again

Today marks one year since the hardest day — the day I lost my beautiful Harry-boy. 💔

I’ll be honest… I still feel a little numb. But I’m also grateful — I’ve made it through all my “firsts.”
✨ The first birthday without him
✨ The first Christmas
✨ The first walk through the woods

The list goes on.

Do I still get upset? Of course. Especially when black labs come through our doors (can’t lie — that one’s tough). There have been plenty of moments where I’ve had to step outside, take a few deep breaths, and compose myself.

After Harry passed, we welcomed Spencer. I’ll admit — I struggled to bond at first. My heart was still with Harry. But time has gently done its thing, and Spencer, bless him, never gave up on me. 🐾

So today, I’ll be a little quieter than usual — spending some time with my memories and feeling thankful for the love I had, and the love I still have.

To all the pet parents walking this same path — I see you. We’ll get through this together. 💞 There’s always tomorrow.

I’ve had a few people ask recently where we send the pets that come to us for their final journey… and honestly, I was a bit confused by the question.
Because the answer is simple: we don’t send them anywhere. ❤️

Our facilities are fully on-site, and we do absolutely everything ourselves. There are no additional staff, no external companies — just Neil and myself working together as a team.

We personally handle every part of the process:
• collections
• paperwork
• paw prints
• cremations
• returns & deliveries
• and every little detail in between

Every pet has their microchip number checked and recorded the moment they arrive. That number stays with them at all times. Before any cremation begins, the chip is scanned again and everything is double-checked — even if we only have one pet with us. Our protocols never change.

Your pet stays with us the whole time.
They are never sent away.
And they are never with us for more than 48 hours.

We pride ourselves on trust, transparency, and care — the same care we would want for our own.” ❤️🌿

Cats! They really are a world apart from dogs 😅
As some of you know, we welcomed Chloe into our lives a couple of months ago.

“Let’s have a cat,” said Mr A. “They’re easy — they practically look after themselves!” 🤦‍♀️

Well… Chloe is the most “touch me and I’ll scratch your eyes out” cat I’ve ever met 😂
I never quite know whether it’s safe to stroke her or not!

Luckily, today she’s in one of her needy moods 💞
I truly believe animals can sense our emotions — maybe today it’s my turn to tune into hers 🫶
