**Update**
The wind certainly made some noise last night, but everyone and everything is fine. Only thing that suffered a bit of damage was the tinsel wrapped around the gate. Tris and Jackie are working all day today, trying not to get blown over!

With Storm Darragh picking up pace, we thought we'd pop out a quick update for those of you who have pets boarding with us currently.

We will be popping down around 8-8.30pm to say goodnight to them all as per usual.

We have the kennels and the cattery on CCTV linked to our phones. This not only alerts us to any movement, but we can actively look at any of the cameras whenever we wish - for example the middle of the night!

We are keeping an eye on the live feeds from both our nearest Coastguard stations, Penzance and Gwennap Head. The top speed for wind so far was an hour ago - 40mph.

The radio will be left on a little louder than normal down the kennels tonight, much like we do around bonfire night.

We are expecting the winds to pick up early morning, then ease again, but pick up once more during the day on Saturday.

Thankfully we are situated in a dip, which means we can get pretty wet with run off from the roads and fields, but usually feel the wind less.

We felled some dead trees last year that we felt were a little too close for comfort, and the rest were given the once over by the tree surgeon.

Kerry's heading off now to give all our guests hugs and treats...

Well thanks Molly cat.. exactly how am I supposed to fill out forms when you decide the best seat in the house is on top of our work diary. Wouldn't be anything to do with me trying to multitask and also eat a tuna jacket potato would it.....

Walks by torchlight!

As we're so rural and there is no light pollution, the light is already fading fast when we start our evening walks, and its pitch black before we finish.

The cats start snoozing after their dinner.

But for the dogs, there are new smells, rustles in the bushes, sometimes a 🦇overhead, a squeak from the woods, or an owl in the distance. A whole different soundtrack!

Happy National Black 🐈‍⬛ Cat Day.

This is our own elderly lady.. 18 year old Molly.

She's got the most brilliant fangs 🦷 and would make a great witch's cat! 🧙🏻‍♀️

Sadly these black beauties are often overlooked at rehoming shelters.

Superstition sucks.. black cats are beautiful. 🖤

🐶 Wishing you'd booked a half term getaway but don't have kennels sorted? One dog has cancelled so we now have a kennel going spare from Sunday 27 October onwards...

🐱 And for any cool cats out there, we've got space in our cattery too...!

Bow and Magnus are both so affectionate and give us daily doses of collie cuteness.

Love is in the air 😍.
Beautiful Saffie, a cocker, and energetic Archie, a Jack Russell X Springer, met today... and certainly hit it off. There was a lot of jumping, rolling, chasing and even a kissy lick or two.

🅿️ Please bear with us while we create new parking spaces.

🚘 It's not finished, but you can still drive in and out, and everything is functional, just not fully laid out.

Things to let you know....

1️⃣ There is no roundabout anymore.
2️⃣ Parking is either to the right as you drive in, by the green, or up by the big shed. Please park head on, so we can park others next to you.
3️⃣ The digger has only just finished digging, so we still need to add sleepers and poles. It's going to look a little messy for a while!
4️⃣ We have taken out a small scrubby hedge so there is plenty of room for manoeuvring.

We are trying to reach out to people that live in the Ludgvan Parish.

Jubilee Pool has offered all local parishes the opportunity for kids under 16 to swim for free all summer, unfortunately the council, when approached by the Jubilee Pool, declined to take part in the offer - the cost was £1,000.

Other councils (Madron, St Just, Lamorna, Paul, St Buryan) have all joined. After a chat with the pool today, we suggested fundraising the money, and they think it's a fabulous idea. So we set up a gofundme! Never done this before, but very much hoping we can club together, pop some money in the pot and get free swims for all under 16s in Ludgvan Parish all summer long. To start it off, we've put £100 and very much hoping some other local businesses might also be able to help. It only needs £10 from 100 families and we'll get it!

If you ever want photos of your fur babies while you're away, honestly do just ask. We don't mind at all. In fact we always take loads anyway, cute, funny and sometimes just silly.

📢 We are looking for someone new to join us part-time.... Spread the word....

We would love this person to be upbeat, happy to work in all weathers (although the sun is finally making an appearance!), self motivated, a hard worker (there is a lot of cleaning, and we can have 20+ dogs to walk!) and must have own transport.

The shifts will vary, either a 7.30am or 8.30am start if working the morning, or a 4pm start if working the afternoon. You will be required to work a mixture of these.

Experience in animals care would be helpful but not essential as we can provide on-the-job training. We need someone who pays attention to detail, can keep up with the physical demands - we do get some strong dogs that pull - and is passionate about animal care.

What a beautiful sunny day to enjoy and take the dogs for a wander along the river. We always try and buddy up our guests and these guys have thoroughly enjoyed each others company ❤️
