Do's and Don'ts for rabbits throughout this extreme weather-

Do...

✅ Refresh water to keep it cool every couple hours

✅ Be aware of heat stroke signs and check on rabbits very often

✅ Bring outdoor rabbits inside to a dark cool room

✅ Put frozen water bottles in front of fans

✅ Give cooler places to lie in rather thank thick blankets

✅ Completely block any direct sunlight

✅ Mist rabbits external ears with cool water if it's still very hot with measures in place

✅ Offer wrapped frozen bottles or cool pods to lie on

✅ Check twice daily for signs of fly strike

Don't...

❌ Give rabbits frozen fruit or ice cubes

❌ Put ice in drinking water

❌ Leave rabbits in a hutch

❌ Bathe a rabbit, offer water for them to go in or pour water on them

Even the woofers were too hot today bless em 😩

A bit about me...

I have always known from a very young age that i wanted to work with animals. It all started at secondary school. Every school holiday and weekend i would go voluntary to Lyons and Bennett's vets in March.

Further on into the school year, i had to choose a work experience placement. I chose to go to Little Acre Quarantine Centre in Turves. At the end of my work experience i was offered a job, as a kennel maid!

After some time, i became friends with a golden retriever breeder. I was asked if i would permanently move in and look after the show dogs (and 2 young boys) whilst she went away. Whilst doing this i met her friend Karen, (a groomer) of Mucky pups. I went out with Karen for a day to see what it was like to be a groomer.

Shortly after i attended Bell mead Training Kennels in Old Windsor (country annex of the Battersea dogs home). Regrettably i didn't stick it out, i was very young and got home sick.
