Ive talked about this in class this week and when seeing this it did make me smile (or possibly grimace), HOWEVER

A dog is certainly part of the family unit but THEY are not babies and should not be treated as such..

They are a species that has distinct biological, developmental, and behavioral characteristics. They also have instinctive behaviour too. One of the biggest mistakes that a human can make is thinking that a dog thinks like we do, and they simply don’t. 😊🐾

We have been working on the ‘Stop’ exercise in the classes this week, however this video demonstrates that even a well trained dog still enjoys doing the training. 😊🐾

All puppy courses are now full so I am adding another to the timetable…

PAWZ4 DOG TRAINING - New Puppy Course.. starting on Saturday 29th March 2025

These 7 week courses will be held at Ashley Memorial Hall, Loggerheads, TF9 4PN.
Our puppy classes will help you and your puppy learn in a fun and relaxed way, including functional training, lifestyle skills, tricks and much more.
With many years of teaching experience, Debbie is qualified with The Association of Pet Dog Trainers & The Institute of Modern Dog Trainers as well as a member of the ABTC. Also registered for the Kennel Club Good Citizens award scheme.
Those early weeks and months with your new puppy can be very rewarding but also very frustrating; teach your puppy the right way with positive, reward based training delivered in small (no more than 5 puppies), personal and friendly group classes in a spacious environment.

These two dogs make this look easy, however when they started the classes they both initially struggled to gain focus around other dogs/humans and distractions. Particularly notice the looking across at the other dog and then checking back in with their handler. Both owners would say that they still have work to do but praise when praise is due they are both coming along nicely… Super well done. 👏🐾🌟

Group ‘Stay’, These guys make this look easy but it certainly isn’t. Never underestimate how much time has been put into a well trained dog.

This Cocker Spaniel absolutely loves her Scentwork, she searches each station and then offers a passive indication (down position) when she finds the Scent. Super clever. 🌟😊🐾.

Both dogs off lead and clearly listening to the verbal and physical cues given. Both dogs happy and relaxed with the training, also notice how the Dalmatian looks across at the Retriever and then checks back in with his owner. Well done to both. 🌟

Both dogs ‘off lead’ at the same time doing a Send-Away. The one year old Dalmatian in this video is deaf. Training a dog with this disability is not always easy, but this certainly demonstrates what can be achieved with patience and consistency. Very well done to all. 🌟👏

Training your dog isn’t about you taking ultimate control, it is about setting boundaries that work for you both, increasing a bond and developing a relationship. It is most certainly about still having fun too. 😊🐾

This sweet girl has been attending the training classes and as you can see never travels too far before she comes back and ‘checks in’. Not the easiest of environments to do this in as there are plenty of distractions.. The training certainly makes a difference. 👏🌟.

In this particular class not many of the dogs are familiar with each other, which certainly adds to the distraction level. No over use of cues, they make it look easy. Super clever . 👏👏👏

Both dogs are ‘off lead’ in this video and clearly remaining focused on their owners. Super well done. 👏🌟🐾

This video demonstrates how much dogs read our body language. Physical cues were used rather than verbal ones and this lovely dog responded perfectly… 🌟🐾
