John one of our equine vets had a busy weekend. 🩺

On Saturday he attended the annual meeting of vets and doctors that officiate at Burghley Horse Trials. Together they practiced emergency procedures that hopefully won’t be required on the day. It was very hot and the actor that got to pretend to be injured in the lake was probably the most comfortable! ☀️🐴

On Sunday John also provided veterinary cover at the brilliant Blaston Show which had a great turnout of competitors and spectators. It’s well worth a visit next year. 🏆

Good to know…
Town & Country Veterinary Centre is the only independent, non-corporately owned veterinary practice in and around Market Harborough.
Our practice is owned and managed by two local veterinary surgeons, John Abbott and Michael Lander who have devoted their careers and lives to the promotion of animal welfare.
We are tremendously proud to have been entrusted with the care of your pets and horses for generations. We know your pets and horses inside and out, quite literally! Their health and wellbeing is of paramount importance to us.
Please rest assured that we have absolutely no intention of selling out to a multi-national confectionary company.
You will be in safe hands for generations to come.

Sink your teeth into our new dental plan … 🦷 🪥

The Problem:

Dental disease is extremely common and poses a serious risk to health and welfare. Signs of dental disease begin with smelly breath, followed by sore and inflamed gums, the progressive accumulation of tartar, then wobbly and rotten teeth in more advanced cases. It is painful. Dogs suffer in silence and will not make a fuss. Often they will appear to eat quite normally, effectively masking any signs of discomfort and leaving their owners completely unaware.
It causes infection that spreads through the bloodstream to the internal organs adversely affecting their function and reducing their life expectancy. The biomatrix of plaque forms constantly throughout each and every day. Dogs need similar dental care and hygiene management to humans.

The Solution:

It is vitally important to proactively prevent dental disease from developing in the first place. Serious problems in later life can be avoided by committing to and investing in a well-structured hygiene management strategy from a young age.

We recommend:

Daily toothbrushing with enzymatic toothpaste.
Frequent dental examinations.
Regular deep cleaning with descale and polish procedures performed thoroughly under general anaesthesia.
Annual full-mouth X-ray examinations to identify any pathology associated with the roots beneath the surface of the gums.
Extraction of unsalvageable teeth that are causing pain and infection.

Most pet insurance companies exclude dental disease from their cover, regarding it as preventative healthcare. We have designed the Ultimate Dental Plan to make preventative dental healthcare as accessible and affordable as possible.
Please note this is not insurance.

What's included:

Enzymatic toothpaste and toothbrush kits
Unlimited dental examination consultations
Unlimited ultrasonic descale and polish under general anaesthesia
Blood tests to assess liver and kidney function prior to general anaesthesia
Annual full-mouth digital dental X-ray examinations
Only £30.00 per month.

Please note that surgical extraction of unsalvageable teeth will be performed at a later date at additional cost.

Don't wait until it's too late - join today.
