Socialisation is a term you've likely heard before, But what exactly does it mean and why is it so important?

Socialisation is the process where our puppies learn how to interact with the world. They learn social skills with dogs, people and other animals, as well as building an understanding of how things work in the world around them. They learn what is safe and enjoyable as well as what is scary and should be avoided.

The goal of socialisation is to ensure our puppies are well-adjusted and feel confident with everything they will likely experience throughout their life.

We are looking for them to be calm and relaxed, not easily startled by things and certainly not obsessive or over excited by the world around them.

It's really important that as well as allowing our puppies to interact with people and dogs, we also teach them the art of watching at a distance, whilst having fun with you instead.

This will help a lot when it comes to getting your puppy's focus or calling them back to you when they're off the lead.

Remember, if it’s too hot for your hands or your bare feet, then it’s too hot for their paw pads! ⚠️

If you’re unsure whether it’s okay to let your pet go for a walk on pavements, a simple way to test the temperature is by holding your bare skin on the tarmac for five seconds ⏱️

If you find it painful, then your pet will find it painful to walk on!

To protect your pet, it’s best to avoid walks during the hottest part of the day, which is usually between 8am and 6pm. If you can't safely exercise your dog, missing a day won't hurt.

Back when I was a cute kid 🤣🤪 I was doggy mad… and used to play games that I owned my own dog kennels daily 🙈🐩 I even got business cards printed from a machine in a airport when I was waiting for a flight 🤣 Little did I know that years down the line I’d have my own doggy salon 🐶🫶🏼 Can’t believe I have had my business for 9 years now! 😯 Where’s time gone?! I still love what I do with a passion 🫶🏼🩷🐶 Thanks to every one of you for keeping my dream job super busy! 🩷🥳🥂
