As we wish Sarah well in her new career, we welcome Jo as our office manager! 🥳

Here she is pretending to laugh at one of my dad jokes.

With a background in emergency veterinary care (amongst other things), Jo is your port of call for all daytime enquiries, including medication or prescription requests and appointment booking.

One minute you're taking the dog for a run, the next you've got a call to deliver breech twins!

Sadly the first calf didn't make it (high risk when coming backwards with lack of oxygen to the brain) but the second calf made no hesitation in coming through 🚅

This lovely cow is now being well fed and pampered after her slightly rough start to the week!

Happy Valentine's day!

This lad's owner got him a romantic red nebuliser for V day - probably the most expensive gift any of us have got today?? 🙈

Although he initially had a few concerns, he quickly settled and is embracing his asthma treatment 🫁

What a start to the week! I had got up early to get a headstart on the admin but this heifer had other ideas 🙈

Having said that, she was the sweetest cow, and her farmers stocked me with coffee, snacks and warm water 🔥

Calf has been nicknamed Eminem as he was forever 'back again' trying to get at the milk bar before I had finished stitching 🐄😎

Are you a vet looking for a change of scenery now that the holidays are over and we are so nearly at the end of January?

If you want a varied workday, to work in the Lincolnshire Wolds (AONB), and have a passion for both farm and equine - get in touch! As I am both a vet and the practice manager/director, the practice is run in a way sympathetic to the challenges being a vet can present!

Full advert in description but the short version is:
Full time hours are 9am-5.30pm (no good reason to start earlier than 9 I say!) 4 days a week with one on-call night a week and one on-call weekend a month.

Sensible things like lunchbreaks scheduled into the diary, TOIL for any (rare) late finishes, excellent equipment to work with.
Ideal candidate would have at least 2 years’ experience and be competent sole charge for most first opinion farm and equine emergencies. Less experience considered for the right candidate.

Full time salary £40-55k DOE.

RCVS & VDS fees and BEVA membership paid for. CPD days and budget pro rata.

Happy 1st birthday to us! 🥳🎁🎉

It feels like I've blinked and the year has flown by!
Being a vet is 100% my favourite part of the job, but I've had to become competent at DIY, website design, organisation, running a business (hurray for accountants!) and more. Thank you to everyone who has made it possible and here's to another year of trying to keep animals as healthy as possible 🤞

Praying I never have to install door handles or locks again as that very nearly sent me over the edge 🤣

Boerenslim.

One of my favourite Dutch words which translates to 'farmersmart'. It's what I thought of last night's set up for keeping this cow from lying down against the wall whilst popping her uterus back in 💅

Although she was initially laid with her uterus downhill and against the wall, some calcium and the sight of her calf persuaded her to get up and embrace the makeshift calving yoke 🚜

She's feeling much better this morning by the looks of things! It's always the 'pet' cows getting into trouble 🙈 i wonder if anyone can guess her name 🤔 (clue... she was named by a 5 year old...)

Thank you to this girl's owners for the lovely video of her doing well after impaction colic 😍 2 rounds of tubing and we did get one absolute mountain of poo out of her! Colic is always an emergency and whether it's 5pm or 2am don't hesitate to call 🚑 Fortunately you're all very lovely and understanding if/when I end up running late 🙈

Percy you're a superstar patient! 🌟 This absolute gentleman was seen lacking impulsion from behind - after an examination and xrays we spotted some hock arthritis. What do you see here? I see a horse with a comfortable back which is one of the best things to see both as a vet and horse owner 😍 Especially after some spicy jumping the other night 🤔 It's not been an easy road for this mare who initially was very reactive to being touched ✨️anywhere✨️ except her face, but a sprinkling of steroid and Arthramid in just the right places and she's finally comfortable in her own skin!
