Here at Caistor Equestrian Centre, we take the welfare of our horses extremely seriously. As a responsible and caring establishment, we prioritise their well-being above all else. One of the key measures we take to ensure their health and happiness is by enforcing a maximum weight limit of 14 stone for our riders. This policy may seem restrictive to some, but it is essential for the safety and comfort of our equine friends.

Horses are magnificent creatures, capable of carrying riders with ease, but they are not invincible. Their bodies are designed to support a certain amount of weight, and exceeding that limit can lead to serious health issues. Carrying excessive weight can cause strain on a horse's joints, muscles, and bones, leading to injuries, lameness, and even long-term damage. As a centre that prides itself on providing a safe and enjoyable experience for both our riders and horses, we cannot compromise on this critical aspect of horse care.

Our horses are carefully selected and trained to cater to riders of varying abilities and sizes. However, even the strongest and most athletic horses have their limits. We have a responsibility to ensure that our riders do not put undue pressure on our horses, which is why we have established a strict weight limit. This policy is not intended to discriminate against riders of a certain size or weight; rather, it is a necessary precaution to protect the welfare of our horses.

We understand that this policy may be inconvenient for some riders, but we are committed to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all.

At our equestrian centre, we believe that horse welfare is paramount. We are dedicated to providing a safe, happy, and healthy environment for our horses, and we will not compromise on this commitment. By enforcing a maximum weight limit, we can ensure that our horses are able to thrive and perform at their best, providing our riders with an unforgettable experience.

We hope that you understand and support our decision to prioritise horse welfare. If you have any questions or concerns about our weight limit policy, please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to welcoming you to our equestrian centre, where you can experience the joy of horse riding in a safe and responsible environment.

🌟🐴 Horse riding is a fun, enjoyable and therapeutic sport, increasing fitness levels, balance and core strength.

🌟🐴 Riding here at CEC is a great way to make new friends, learn new skills, and socialise with others who share your passion and interests.

👷‍♀️🐴 Safety always comes first. Always wear a horse riding hat when on or around equines.

👷‍♀️🐴When you come to ride here at CEC you can bring your own riding equipment: hat, suitable boots, and a safety vest if you prefer. If you do not own a suitable riding hat, we stock a wide range of horse riding hats in all sizes, that you are able to use for your lessons. We ensure that our hats comply with the British Safety standards, and we regularly check our equipment to ensure your well being.

Behind the scenes: field management of the horse’s paddocks is an important daily role at Caistor Equestrian Centre.

Paddocks are ‘poo-picked’, paddock grazing is rotated so that the fields can ‘rest’, and regular spraying undertaken to remove weeds and plants that could potentially be dangerous to our equines.

Many of our paddocks have automated water feeders or water bowsers to ensure that our horses have a clean plentiful supply of water.
