It’s and for once it comes with and our annual reminder for the steps we will take when the temps are dangerous for our pooches.

🛑We will revert to comfort breaks, shorten walks, walk in shaded routes and walk where there is water. To fit everyone in, we will prioritise those dogs who are home alone.🛑

For all our here’s our to prevent heat stroke and other heat related illnesses during hot weather 👇

1. **Provide Plenty of Water**: Ensure your dog has access to fresh, cool water at all times. You can add ice cubes to their water bowl to keep it cooler for longer.

2. **Avoid Midday Walks**: Walk your dog during the cooler parts of the day, such as early morning or late evening, to avoid the hottest part of the day.

3. **Create Shade**: Make sure your dog has a shaded area to rest in, whether indoors or outside. A shaded spot can significantly reduce heat exposure.

4. **Cool Mats and Towels**: Use cooling mats or damp, cool towels for your dog to lie on. These can help regulate their body temperature.

5. **Limit Exercise**: Reduce the intensity and duration of your dog's exercise on hot days. Overexertion can lead to overheating quickly.

6. **Never Leave in a Car**: Never leave your dog in a parked car, even for a short period. Cars can heat up rapidly and become dangerously hot.

7. **Fans and Air Conditioning**: Use fans or air conditioning to keep indoor areas cool. Ensure that your dog can access these cooler spots.

8. **Frozen Treats**: Offer frozen dog treats or ice cubes as a way to cool down and stay hydrated.

9. **Grooming**: Regular grooming can help, especially for dogs with thick coats. Removing excess fur can help them stay cooler.

10. **Monitor for Heatstroke**: Be aware of signs of heatstroke, such as excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting, or collapse. If you suspect heatstroke, contact a vet immediately and try to cool your dog gradually with cool (not cold) water and a fan.

We are proud to support our friends at Hull Animal Welfare Trust and run the fun dog show at their Summer Market event.

ALL proceeds will go directly to the shelter, and as always there will be rosettes for the top 3 in each class and a prize for Best In Show alongside a very posh rosette 🏵️ 😂🫶🏻

Registration will be on the day from 11-12, classes from 12.15-1.45.

It’s open to all- please spread the word and lets get lots of funds raised for such a worthwhile charity 🐕‍🦺🐾🐩🐕🦮

These events are great with lots of gift and craft stalls and of course, yummy food stalls too😂

Many of our non spayed females are just ending or in full swing of their season.
We know we have more to come. So please do inform your team member as soon as you notice signs of your female dog entering a season so we can make reasonable adjustments to keep her separated from entire males and safe out on walks 🚶‍♀️‍➡️🦮🐕‍🦺
