Next up were Victoria and Ralph, it was so lovely to see you both again! I can’t believe how much Ralph has improved, it made my day! Huge well done for all of you hard work! 🥳 hunting is life for Ralph! So we looked at ways to use that to increase the value in other behaviours and also some ways to help encourage him to use his nose a bit more, what a great lesson I’m very proud 🥹

Then Natasha and Oakley came along for a 1-2-1 and he was a star ⭐️ just like most of our working dogs the shooting season has chipped away at some aspects of his training so we looked at building those back up and creating a bit more clarity in cues so that he knows what is being asked of him, as well as some cold game retrieves, such a sweet boy!

I got a new toy for Christmas! Absolutely loving the remote bolting rabbit from Autoretrieve, the girls have been testing it out today 😍

Loving these quail dummies from @pawsbrooklyn using them today in our hunting practise with little Freya who is 7 months old now. They’re perfect for this as they do drop right down in the grass meaning she has to work a bit harder to find them. Some bits from today’s trip to the field for little Freya. I’m just doing little bits and pieces but she is loving it so far bless her. I love watching her starting to use her nose 🖤

A little bit of heelwork practise in the woods today with the girls Like for many spaniels, woodland often means hunting for these two! So I’m quite pleased, especially with Sienna who finds this VERY hard, hence the quite high rate of reinforcement! They are a hunting breed but there are times on a shoot they will be expected to remain at heel, including through cover that may naturally trigger hunting so it’s worth building up and strengthening your heelwork in various environments We did do some hunting too today so it was good to work on transitioning between that and heelwork as well, I want it to be my cues that cause a behaviour to happen not the environment we are in 😊
