Just to make any clients aware who come from this direction, please ensure you allow for enough time for these closures.
I will try and be accommodating where possible due to traffic congestion but I also have a scheduled to keep the diary running smoothly!

A6 Cromford/Matlock Bath closure from tomorrow Sunday 16 November at 6am
We’re very concerned about the state of trees that could come down onto the A6 just after the junction at Cromford heading towards Matlock Bath, opposite Masson Mill. In recent days two trees have fallen onto the road, so we have taken the very difficult decision to close the A6 from tomorrow at 6am for around a week to remove those that pose a risk to motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.
There are around 100 trees on this piece of privately owned sloping land, some of which are up to 25 metres high, and are next to the road. There are ash trees that are affected by ash die back, and some dead elm trees. Other trees are leaning and pose an unacceptable risk – one that we are not prepared to take. It is highly likely given recent weather that more trees could come down imminently.
We realise that this will cause significant disruption. The diversion route from the south would mean coming off the A6 at Ambergate, onto the A610 to the A38 to the A61 at Alfreton up to Chesterfield. Then using St Augustines Road to access the A632 to Matlock, and vice versa. Local routes are available, but currently the road through Starkholmes is also closed.
Our contractors will be working 24 hours a day to get this work done as fast as they can. Because of the specialist large equipment they need to use we cannot allow vehicles, pedestrians or cyclists to use the road while this vital work is taking place.
We hope that the Via Gellia, which has been closed for other vital tree work, will be open again by the end of tomorrow, Sunday 16 November.
There will be significant disruption to bus services. We are currently liaising with all bus operators who run services along the A6. They will now be looking to see what alternatives they can offer their passengers and will update their websites once they have made plans. The train from Derby to Matlock is a possible alternative route for those who use the bus. We realise that school transport will also be affected, and will be working on plans for this tomorrow.
Please accept our apologies for the issues that we know this will cause. We must put public safety first at all times.
