Do you know how to hang your Likit toys properly?

Here are some top tips for getting the most out of your Likit…

✅ DO hang freely away from any walls so the Likit cannot be pinned by your horse
✅ DO hang so your toy is about level with your horse’s withers
✅ DO ensure your toy is hung in a safe place, on a sturdy beam
✅ DO clean your toys regularly

❌ DO NOT forget to introduce the Likit from your hand first,

What makes a Likit toy ‘Difficult’? 🤔

The Boredom Breaker and Boredom Buster have both been categorised as our most challenging so we would recommend them for experienced Likit users or those horses that are highly food motivated. 🐴

Both are designed to be hung freely away from the wall which instantly ups the challenge! ⬆️

The Boredom Breaker has space for not one but up to three different licks so you can offer a variety of flavours and styles to keep their interest. We like to use a Himalayan Likit in the top section and then just one Little Likit in the ball for maximum challenge.

✨ The Boredom Buster can be used with one or two Little Likits and the spinning nature of the ball makes it extra challenging!

This week we’ve been talking about our toys graded as ‘Medium’ in the Likit Challenge System. 🐴

The Likit Snak-a-Ball and Tongue Twister, both very different toys but both graded at level medium which makes them great options for both new and experienced Likit users. ❤️

✨ The Likit Snak-a-Ball is a great way to make feed times last longer and prolong that grazing time which we know is super important to digestive health. Not just a hollow ball so the horse has to work for their reward.

✨ The Tongue Twister is a good option for horses that would shy away from a free hanging toy or those that don’t like to work too hard for their reward. You can sneakily increase the challenge & restrict consumption by just inserting one Little Likit at a time.

Did you know horses in the wild would naturally spend up to 18 hours a day grazing and foraging? 🐴

Keeping horses happy and mentally stimulated in the stable can be a challenge, especially when they are on restricted diet or turnout so it’s good to get creative with how they spend their time!

Our range of Likit toys and licks have been designed to enrich your horse’s environment by stimulating foraging and licking behaviours as well as by providing them with something fun to do.

A study at Bristol Veterinary School found that…

🩷 Horses with a Likit toy had lower heart rates compared with times when the toy was absent from the stable.
💚 The toys had a positive effect on horse welfare by increasing grazing-type behaviour and reducing the frequency and duration of box walking.
🩵 Horses of all ages and types benefited from the presence of a stable toy.
