On Saturday I joined Georgie of Endeavour Canine down in the New Forest for an independent searching scent work work shop

What a wonderful day it was to be in the New Forest. I always enjoy a visit, its such a photogenic place.

I had the pleasure of watching 6 dog and handler combinations grow in confidence searching for scent in big woodland areas.

We then had an impromptu mini photoshoots in the gorgeous heather. I will be sharing some of these photos individually as they really need to be shown off in their own posts - I am so so happy with them 💖

I can’t believe this is coming round so fast! We Cognition tested these three gorgeous puppies in April. Now it’s time for their adult tests! I can’t wait to see how their results compare and how they’ve got on in their first few months of training! 🤞🏻 they’ll all make it through to operational police dogs!

We are so excited to be holding the first SCI SCENT event in 2025! This scent science and detection focused event has some international speakers attending!

I have the opportunity to have Jens for an extra 2 days pre OPEX this October, we might as well get as much knowledge out of him as we can whilst we have him here!
So the seminar I’d like to run is focused on the development of your detection dog. Looking at developing the right sort of motivation and arousal in your dog so that you have an efficient, effective and low stress detection team.
It will be suitable for all levels from total beginners to experienced dog teams, Jen’s will look at each team individually depending on what you’re looking to improve on. We will look into plenty of theory too about developing detection dogs from puppies to adults.
I’m keeping this seminar as low cost as I can because I’m really keen to learn from Jen’s about these subjects and am so excited at the prospect of these 2 days!
Because of the theory that will go into the seminar and to make sure there’s time with each team, handler places will be limited too.

Trainer Course
Very limited (handler or spectator) places available on this unique course. These are the only 2024 dates I’ll be running it.
27-29 September
The Friday afternoon is theory so you can attend online if it’s easier than attending in person, then the Saturday/Sunday are both practical days.
You’re welcome as a non instructor too.
I feel so much is missed when attending instructor courses or seminars, it’s not just about training your clients when it comes to running your scentwork business.
This course isn’t to obtain another shiny certificate (although you will get one 😜) it’s designed to provide advice and support to those running or wanting to set up their own scentwork business.
Operational experience is very important when it comes to being a trainer, but also experience of actually teaching multiple dogs and handlers of different levels, being able to communicate your skills to your clients and understanding how to market and deliver your training is just as important.

Nearly managed to get everyone in for a photo before they all went home! What an incredible weekend of learning, brilliant teams, so enthusiastic to learn! Thank you to our amazing instructors, Tim Baird, Kimberly Melton Hall, Stu Phillips, Robert Barlow and Anna Pleban for giving us your knowledge and working each dog individually to suit the teams needs, this is so important in training.
Our teams were challenged with some operational style searches at two fantastic venues.
Lots of tired dog photos and great feedback coming in already, looking forward to Autumn OPEX on the 5/6 October this year, with Jens Frank, Stu Phillips Kryus Canine on the instructor list (still a very small number of handler spots available) we’re already discussing 2025 dates too so keep an eye out!
