2024 has been a quiet year for me dog training wise due to being on maternity leave however I've still managed to run a total of 5 puppy courses (20 puppies in total) and see a few 1-1 clients.
Poodle mixes have been the most popular type of dog I've seen. Purebreeds have been very varied with cocker spaniels being the most common. I've also had a few more unusual breeds such as a wire fox terrier and a basset hound.

My 1st classes for 2025 are already fully booked and more will be released soon. I'm also hoping to run some sessions for common struggles such as recall and lead walking so keep an eye on the page.

Happy new year to everyone!

Catching up with admin at the lovely Evie's Kitchen This cafe in Melksham is welcoming, has great food and coffee and is dog friendly! Based in the park in Melksham is also perfect to pop into to warm up on a winters dog walk.

Hopefully anyone waiting for a reply or session notes from me should now have them 🤞

Last week I took a break from my classes as 2 of our dogs had qualified for the Agility 4 All grand finals. We had a fun weekend, coming away with 3rd and 4th in their competitions.

As you can see neither are the 1st breeds you would think of when you think of agility which shows its something most dogs can have a go at.

My dogs had a great time at Hound Haven at Shaw this morning.
Secure fields are perfedt for reactive dogs, those working on recall and anyone who just wants to let their dog run without the worry of other people or dogs being around.

Not a very big graduation photo as a couple couldn't make the final session but here are the lovely Gracie and Milo.

Lovely Woody practicing calm behaviour at class.
Each week we encourage the puppies to settle on their blanket with a Kong at the start and between exercises, this makes taking them for cafe and pub visits much easier as they start to understand the idea of relaxing outside of the house.

Unfortunately not everyone could make the final class so didn't get chance for a photo of them all but all the puppies did very well.

These were my final groups until probably September/October time. When I have plans for the next classes they will be announced on this page.

About Clover Canines

I am a dog trainer covering Melksham and surrounding areas. I have conditional membership with PACT (https://www.pact-dogs.com), this means you can be assured that I have knowledge of not just training dogs but also on how to explain this to owners and help the bond between you. I am fully insured through Pet Business Insurance.

Having spent 9 years working in rescue I have experience with a wide range of breeds and temperaments and the ability to adapt my plans to suit the dog. At all times I look to train in a way which is enjoyable for all involved.

I only use force free, positive methods in my training as these produce lasting results and a stronger bond between dog and owner. Every dog and person is different and learns at different paces and I believe it is important to respect this. I aim to explain techniques clearly to clients and make use of demonstrations and videos to enable this.

Continued learning is important for all dog trainers and I regularly attend events in order to improve. I have recently completed a FdSc in Applied Canine Behaviour and Training and am now studying for a Bsc in Canine Behaviour and Management.
