Unfortunately not everyone could make the final class so didn't get chance for a photo of them all but all the puppies did very well.
These were my final groups until probably September/October time. When I have plans for the next classes they will be announced on this page.

Good to catch up with the handsome Dutch who has grown a bit since puppy class! We did some work on his lead walking as his strength has been making walks less enjoyable for his family.

Didn't manage to get a photo of everyone from the recent older puppy class but did get the lovely Sprout and Penny. Big improvements from everyone during the course 🎉

The next Melksham class has already started but I have some spaces remaining for Bradford-on-Avon www.bookwhen.com/clovercanines
Been a bit busy recently so haven't been good at updating Facebook!
Pleased to say I'm now a Tier 1 ScentworkUK trainer after completing the course recently. I won't be offering classes in this at the moment but can do 1-1 sessions for people interested in learning about scentwork.
Looking forward to having a stall here tomorrow. I'll have some toys and snuffle mats for sale and have donated some prizes for the dog show. Pop over and say hi if you're going 😊

Max may look calm but he can get very excited especially when people come in the house. With a bit of management and giving him time to calm down when people enter he was able to relax next to me instead of mouthing.
He is an adolescent dog who has recently joined his new owners so we also covered some basics in lead walking and recall.
This gorgeous collie is Kipper. Kipper doesn't always feel the need to listen to his recall so we worked on management (to prevent him ignoring) and motivation (so he wants to come back) as well as making sure he understands and clear recall cue.

Look at this lovely loose lead walking from Mabel in our 1-1 session 😍 She finds it more difficult to maintain this once the other dogs are added so we took her mum Rosie out with us so they could practice together and came up with a plan to work towards relaxed walks together.

Very useful graphic to show the stages involved in training a behaviour which is reliable in all situations.
In class we discuss not adding a cue too soon (remember dogs don't know what we're saying) and increasing the difficulty in small steps.
It can be very tempting to want to jump to the end result but building behaviours slowly makes them much stronger and is how we can help them to still listen when there are other things happening.
Thanks to .center for this awesome graphic. Study it, then put it into practice.

Well done to Ralf, Ray, Riley, Bonny and Mouse for completing puppy class.
I'm looking forward to meeting the next class tomorrow and there's still space for another puppy to join us

Hound Haven at Shaw is a lovely big secure field just outside Melksham that's perfect for practicing recall or just having a relaxing walk without having to worry. Jasper enjoyed himself so much this evening he didn't want to leave!

My other job is working as a puppy coordinator for Dogs for Good. We're currently looking for more socialisers (looking after a puppy for up to 18 months) and boarders (having the puppy whilst it's socialisers are away, usually a week or 2), if anyone has friends/family who would like to do this more info can be found at https://www.dogsforgood.org/get-involved/volunteer/puppy-socialiser/ or send me a message.

Lenny recently had a 1-1 to work on his recall. He isn't the most motivated by food so we took advantage of his love of toys to reinforce the recall. We also played some games to make the food a bit more interesting to give his family more options for rewarding him

A few of the dogs from the older puppy class who all made great progress being able to focus on their owners with the distraction of others dogs around. Also lovely to welcome back a couple of puppies who had attended my regular puppy class.

Bertie is another cute cocker spaniel I've seen recently. He can get a bit anxious which then causes him to start hu***ng so we put in some management and a training plan to help. He had already made an improvement between the 2 sessions thanks to the hard work of his family.

Unfortunately illness meant a couple of puppies couldn't make graduation night so only photos of Bertie and Scout to share
Enrichment is something that lots of people overlook but is so important for dogs. It allows them to express their natural behaviours in an appropriate way which can help reduce unwanted behaviours. It also increases confidence and gets their brain switched on which will help tire them out. Food enrichment is also a good way to slow down fast eaters!
In class we try out some food enrichment toys and also talk about other types such as varying walks, allowing dogs to sniff and explore and playtime with people and other dogs (if that's something your dog enjoys).

The lovely Remi showing off her recall. Her guardian has done brilliantly with her training. Remi also gets a bit overexcited when playing with other dogs so we looked at getting her to take breaks before she gets too silly, a good recall will make this much easier!
I am a dog trainer covering Melksham and surrounding areas. I have conditional membership with PACT (https://www.pact-dogs.com), this means you can be assured that I have knowledge of not just training dogs but also on how to explain this to owners and help the bond between you. I am fully insured through Pet Business Insurance.
Having spent 9 years working in rescue I have experience with a wide range of breeds and temperaments and the ability to adapt my plans to suit the dog. At all times I look to train in a way which is enjoyable for all involved.
I only use force free, positive methods in my training as these produce lasting results and a stronger bond between dog and owner. Every dog and person is different and learns at different paces and I believe it is important to respect this. I aim to explain techniques clearly to clients and make use of demonstrations and videos to enable this.
Continued learning is important for all dog trainers and I regularly attend events in order to improve. I have recently completed a FdSc in Applied Canine Behaviour and Training and am now studying for a Bsc in Canine Behaviour and Management.
I offer a range of private 1-1 sessions and packages which can be adapted to suit what you need. Issues I can help with include, but is not limited to; basic training, recall, loose lead walking and confidence building. Please get in touch by email or message the page for a chat to see if I can help.
