Two of our quiet Donkeys of to there lovely new home. Good luck.
Breakfast in the shade and in the sun. It’s to be a lovely weekend so why not pop along and meet the Donkeys. They will love seeing you all.
The girls , enjoying a touch of sunshine between the heavy showers.
Thank you to our friends at Phoenix Photography Scotland who popped along today for a photo shoot. Check out the photos, these donkeys can strike a pose 😂
Dougie the Donkey
He has been with us for a couple of months and he and his pal have settled in well. He has slimmed down and become very friendly, coming by over to meet the visitors every Saturday. He will be going onto the Adoption list soon.
Two girl who came to us from the most beautiful location up in Central Scotland. Baci and Papillon from the banks of Kinlochard. Stunning area and a great home for these them They are now with our five from there home looking onto Ailsacraig. Sone of them did have stunning homes for sure.
This is Dash. Lovely dark donkey , he has a white star on his forehead. His mate Pinocchio is exactly the same but no star. They’re getting prepared to get a new home sometime soon, which is already all set up. I’m sure they will be great fun.
Riley, now six years old Born in the garden of the manager amongst the rhododendrons and being nannied along by miniature schnauzer Pippy
ATTICUS
Atticus a large boy , in his teens. Quite the boss of his group. He came from best Edinburgh as one of a group of four. He is canny enough although very strong and likes his own way. Generally he is healthy , but can have minor noughts of laminitis Catching this in time , he recovers quite quickly and with the minimum of fuss.
Hi
Here is a little info for anyone interested in volunteering
We are happy to give anyone an opportunity to volunteer
If you are under 16 you need to be accompanied by an adult
Many people ask why our existing volunteers can’t supervise. They also come to help out , work either with the donkeys and relax.
Volunteers do a variety of chores.
Poo picking , brushing donkeys ,cleaning shelters. Preparing for the public visitors after lunch.
We encourage volunteers to stay on and help with the afternoon visiting as there are many different ways to assist. This of course is entirely at the volunteers own discretion, not expected
Thank you.
We are sorry that we cannot open on Sunday this weekend.
To help avoid this we need more volunteers. Please email or call the Sanctuary if interested
Thank you.
Ziggy
Another girl from the same shed. Slightly shy and more confused about life , she has an unusual colour. and doesn’t have any distinct features Her timid nature makes her slightly more of a challenge but we’re getting they’re. She to is a bit fatter than we would like but she’s very healthy and can get around at speed when she wants.
Sallly
Charming Jenny. One of a large group in the double doors shed She is kind and well liked. We have trouble with her weight as we do several on the Sanctuary, but she is easy to manage and is a little slimmer than she was. Her feet are in good condition and she has a lovely happy face.
Anyone visiting the Sanctuary today leave a mobile on a bench. It will be in the shop for collection tomorrow or by prior arrangement

Christmas Cracker. At the time he was unofficially believed to be the oldest Donkey in Britain. A real Cracker 🤣🤣👍🏻
Meet Dolly (at the back) and Dougal.
They join us all the way from north of Aberdeen.
Due to an unfortunate change of circumstances out with their lovely owners control she had to make the heartbreaking decision to ask us to collect them and give them a loving home here at the sanctuary.
After a long and careful journey we are delighted to tell you they have arrived safe and well and are settling into the new surroundings.
Without your continued support we wouldn’t be able to undertake such trips and be able to give these wee beauties a loving home.
