We’d like to take a moment to clear up some confusion and address recent discussions.

First and foremost, we apologise for any mixed messages over the past few days. To clarify: the sanctuary will not be open this weekend. As usual we’re closing for the winter months for some much needed rest and recuperation time. It’s something we do every year.

We’re really sorry for any misunderstanding. We know many of you were excited to visit, and we can’t wait to welcome you back in the spring.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to reassure everyone that, as always, caring for our donkeys remains our top priority. Thanks to your incredible support, we’ve had a remarkable number of recent adoptions, helping us look after all the donkeys in our care.

Volunteers are the heart of everything we do, and we couldn’t achieve any of this without their help. We’re so grateful to each and every one of them.

Your support means the world to us, and we’ll continue to keep you updated on reopening dates and upcoming news.

Wonder what this pair were chatting about recently when ITV visited last year?

We think they were discussing that the Sanctuary is only open for one more weekend before we close for a break.

Visit us this Saturday 4th of January from 1pm to 4pm for a wander round, feed the donkeys and relax before normality resumes on Monday!

As the year draws to a close we want to take the opportunity to wish you all a Happy and Healthy New Year!

The humans will be tucked up in bed for the bells as this cheeky rascal will be standing waiting at the gate for breakfast and the world will know about it if we are late; best not disturb the neighbours incase there’s a sore head or two in the morning!

I think we have all just about recovered from what was the busiest day for visitors yet!

Thank you to everyone who came along; we hope you all had a lovely afternoon and enjoyed meeting the donkeys. Please tag us in all you photos.

It’s time to look forward and think about the wind down as we do close after the first weekend in January for a little break, so if you are planning a visit there isn’t long left to come along and visit you favourite furry friend!

💥 Today was the busiest day since the Sanctuary opened; it’s been amazing to see so many little happy faces running around looking like they are having so much fun 🤩

The donkeys have had a ball being so stimulated by all of the attention and well I think I can speak on behalf of us all that we will sleep tonight!

We have breaking news!

We have been lucky enough to secure brawbarista tomorrow Saturday 28th December to come along and offer coffee and the most amazing hot chocolate (recently sampled at Gala Rugby all in the name of research and taste testing 😉)

So if you were lucky enough to receive a donkey adoption as a gift why not pop along tomorrow and meet your adopted donkey in person?

No need to book; pay at the gate and please remember that under 16’s go FREE!

As December starts to draw to a close we feel it’s only right to thank each and every one of you who has supported us when we have been out and about. We realised that not everyone gets the opportunity to meet the donkeys up close and we took the decision to combine that with some vital fundraising and go on a mini tour of the Borders.
To everyone who came along and supported us, bought from the merchandise stall or donated; thank you. Without your continued support we wouldn’t be able to do the work we do.

The three amigos are here to tell you that any orders or online adoptions made after this morning at 10am will not be guaranteed delivery in time for Christmas.

We need to collate all orders placed and get them out asap.

We will be working behind the scenes processing any more that come in but we can no longer guarantee they will make it for Christmas delivery.
