A wee notice to all of our clients that may need to sadly use our services tomorrow… due to the Red Weather Warning for tomorrow (Friday) please know that if you do unfortunately need to use our services we can respectfully collect your pet from your home/vet in our fleet of Private Pet Ambulances if you do not feel comfortable bringing your beloved pet to us in the forecasted weather.

We want to stress that to ensure the safety of our clients please only travel to us for emergencies, saying that we do realise with the nature of our business that unfortunately you may need us unexpectedly.

We are here to help you so please don’t hesitate to ask if you need any assistance.

A Letter from the Rainbow Bridge…
Hi, Mum, Dad,
Now that I’ve been across The Rainbow Bridge for a couple weeks, they said I should write a letter home. Sorry, Mum but I’m so busy ‘across the bridge’ that I haven’t thought of home much. They said it’s okay and that you would understand. I hope you do. (I think you will.)
Remember that night when I wasn’t feeling very well and we were all crying? I don’t remember much, but I do remember seeing and hearing all of you and feeling your touches and hugs…I remember hearing “we love you” and that one last command of “Go through”. I didn’t know what you meant, so I turned around and walked through the fog that was in front of me. I saw the biggest bridge I’ve ever seen! And so many friends on the other side of it! They were all playing with toys and balls! You were right to tell me to go there!
My feet kept moving forward, but my heart kept pulling me back. Your touches became lighter and lighter and I wanted to come back and nudge your hands for more love, but I was overcome by this feeling of curiosity for the happy place over the bridge! My feet started moving on their own, like a gentle breeze was moving them forward for me! I can’t explain it, but I had no doubt that it was the right thing to do!
So, I walked across that big, huge bridge by myself! I looked for you, because you’re always by my side, walking with me, but this was different. I didn’t have a collar around my neck or a leash connecting me to you ~ I was ‘free’! Even though you weren’t there with me, I never felt alone! I actually felt like I had a huge cape of love wrapped around my body and the more I walked, the easier it was to breathe! So, I kept walking! And I would feel more warmth in the big hug, so I kept on walking! I eventually made it over the big bridge – I did it by myself, mum. When I got here, all of my new friends greeted me and helped me walk off the bridge ~ it was so cool! They gave me a pair of wings and said that I was now a Guardian Angel!
What I’ve learned over these past few weeks has been amazing and nothing like I’ve seen before! We’re all the same up here ~ we all have wings and we all have Forever People to watch over ~ that’s YOU! You’re my Forever Person and I’m your Forever Dog! We had such a great life together and I do miss you a LOT, but please know that I am so happy in my new home across The Bridge!
I’ll send you another Earth Angel so you won’t be alone. Give them your whole heart, like you gave it to me. I’ll check in every so often to make sure they treasure your love ~ I always did! When you miss me, think of a rainbow and know I’m on the other side of it, waiting to walk with you again. I’ll always be in your heart. I love you!

With the upcoming weather forecasted our fleet of Private Pet Ambulances are ready whenever you sadly need us no matter the weather with our all-terrain vehicles. We can respectfully collect your beloved pet from your home or veterinary practice if you are unable to make it over to us due to severe weather.

Nothing is too much trouble, if you very sadly need to use our services we are only ever a call away.

Cake Boxes Collection Times!🧁

Good morning everyone, it’s a frosty morning today! Just a few days until our cake boxes will be ready for collection…

Please collect your cake boxes from the 1st For Fencing office as to not disrupt any clients at Borders Pet Crematorium

Friday 6th: collection between 1pm-4pm

Saturday 7th: collection between 10am-11:30am

We would appreciate everyone to collect within these times, however if you have already ordered a cake box and are unable to collect within the above times please message us to make alternative arrangements🤍

Please bear in mind that we don’t have a card machine at our facilities due to a poor wifi signal!

Comment/message us if you would like any last minute orders, our delicious cake boxes are £10.00 each, all funds raised will go towards food, resources etc for our Rescue Animals.

A lovely wee poem we wanted to share on this special Remembrance Day🐾❤️

To the memory of silent footsteps
That beside us once did fall
We pause but for a moment
And in reverence do recall

For the hand that held the leash
They served our country well
Therefore we who do remain
Will their stories ever tell.

Some did come home
Along with us, tails held high
While others left empty collars

Rainbow Bridge: Where our animals go when they fall asleep for the last time…

Earlier this week, we were kindly donated these lovely children’s books which have a moving and uplifting story to melt our hearts and help us all deal with the very difficult grief of losing a special companion.

We would like to thank the author and donator for thinking of us and allowing us to have a few copies to show in our Farewell Room here at Borders Pet Crematorium here in Melrose.💚🌈🐾

Pet Bereavement Support💚🌈🐾

All pet lovers experience pet bereavement and pet loss at some point in our lives. This can be a very difficult experience to go through and while we at Borders Pet Crematorium, Pets at Peace can offer you support we also recommend contacting a support network if you feel you need additional support during these challenging times.

The Pet Bereavement Support Service (PBSS) is run by the charity Blue Cross and they have been supporting animal lovers through the grieving process since its launch in 1994. The PBSS provides animal bereavement counselling from their experienced volunteers over the phone from 8:30am to 8:30pm. 0800 096 6606
The PBSS can also be contacted via email and they have a confidential form you can fill in on their website. They will try to respond to you within 24 hours.

It is with a very heavy heart that I write this post to let everyone know that our beloved Snowbell, our oldest Rescue Reindeer, sadly passed away yesterday. We feel lucky to have been able to care for her and have her in our lives for over 16 years, it is a comfort to know all 3 of our ‘original’ Rescue Reindeer Tinkerbell, Magnus and Snowbell are all together again over the Rainbow Bridge. Rest In Peace Snowbell🤍

“Just this side of heaven is a place called the Rainbow Bridge. When a beloved pet passes that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to the Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All of the pets who had been ill or old are restored to health and vigour. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams.

The pets are very happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. Their bright eyes are intent, their eager body quivers, suddenly they begin to run from the group, flying over the green grass, their legs carrying them faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together…”

Whenever you may need us, we are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We have a member of our team on call at all times, so please don’t think you are disturbing us. On any occasion when the phone line is busy/we don’t answer, it is usually because we are with another client. Please don’t think we are closed or not responding, if you leave a wee voicemail we will get back to you at our earliest opportunity.
