👋 Hello - its been a while since I introduced myself and time keeps moving on... so thought I'd put a face to the name of Silva Bed.

I'm Louise and I along with my husband, Nick own and run Silva Bed - a business that solely sells Silva Crumb, a pine bedding pellet that has been made for horses. We founded this business 18 months ago after researching all things pellets and horse bedding and we are pleased to be able to bring such a high quality and consistent pine pellet to the UK market.

Here's a few fun facts about us and the business....

🌲'Silva' means 'forest' in Latin and we chose the name after pondering quite a few as we feel it fits our product as our pellets are made from Pine and originate from a forest.

🐴 I have a horse called Harry who's on loan to me - he's 20 now and is really quite an easy chilled out horse most of the time - he loves his fun rides and finds new gears on those! Harry sometimes features in my social media posts and he tests out our bedding too.

💍Nick and I met at Harper Adams Agricultural College, many years ago and both studied Agriculture - we have 2 teenage sons and our youngest is now studying Agriculture 🚜🤠

🐑 We cannot leave our agricultural roots behind too much and now keep a handful of sheep, we justify having them to tidy up the horse paddock, but if you've ever kept sheep you soon realise how good they are at escaping their field! I'm currently debating if/when to let them go to the tup for more lambs next year....

🌹I love gardening and still help/work in a few gardens as well as running Silva Bed - getting outside in a garden is definitely something I need to do to keep me sane!

🐾 We have a collie dog and 2 cats too - all of our pets are black and white, including the horse and the sheep - I really ought to do a post about that and show them off!

Sidcup equestrian supplies became one of our stockists in April of this year and have literally been AMAZING at selling Silva Crumb!

The team there sell pallet after pallet which we are very grateful for - it’s fair to say the pellets also sell themselves as once you’ve tried them you keep buying them as they are a FANTASTIC Pine 🌲 Wood Pellet and the bags are large too at 18kg - Thankyou to team Sidcup Equestrian 👏🏻🤩🐴🌲💚

🙌Hands up who has ever had ammonia in the stable so bad that it made your eyes run or you had to run out for air!?

🤢It's horrid isn't it?

And traditional bedding does nothing to help!

🌲💚But the good news is our pellets can help.... Silva Crumb Pellets offer a difference to other beddings because the particular pine that goes into the pellets has a high natural resin content and that is an important factor! Its the resin in the pine that inhibits the bacteria that grows and produces the ammonia. Plus pine is naturally antiseptic 😀

Many people say they are looking for 'dust free' bedding - our Pine Pellets are definitely a contender! As a bedding that has been made for horses, its dust extracted and not made from sawdust, giving a pellet that can be used without fearing the dust.

We agree with this sentiment… buying unbranded wood pellets may appear cheaper but the truth is they are not made for horse bedding and you have no idea what is actually in them. Buy cheap, buy twice…

Over the last 18 months we have steadily grown from no customers when we first started to now having quite a few more!
