Lest We Forget 💜

06/11/2024

Sorry to have to write this but rather than messaging customers individually, it makes sense to put a post up.

Can we remind all our customers that part of the agreement you sign during the meet and greet process, includes the following :-

“Cancellation charges apply in the form of 50% of the overall cost of the stay, if less than one month’s notice is given prior to the commencement of dog boarding”

Therefore, if anyone cancels within a month of the start of the stay, then there is a fee to pay.

We have received a number of cancellations this month at short notice and have been unable to fill the places, therefore losing a substantial amount of income.

If you need to cancel any bookings, please give us enough notice to be able to fill the place otherwise, a fee will apply. Many thanks 🙏

Today is a very sad day. George’s owners have messaged to tell us that he passed away this morning. Anyone who knew George (we like to call him Georgeous) would know what a character he was. He could eat his own body weight in one sitting and he wasn’t fussy what it was he was eating. We are certain he came to us for a rest because his owners would walk him for miles, but when we had him, he favoured the garden chairs, the chairs at the park or anyone and everyone’s bed but his own. We could tell so many stories about him, as over the years he has brought us so much joy and love. Our hearts are breaking and to say he will be sorely missed is an understatement. From his big wet nose to his wonky tail, we loved every inch of him. Roam free handsome boy, sniff whatever you want to sniff and eat whatever you want to steal 💔 Sending heartfelt condolences to his owners x

Happy 10th Birthday to our very own Gertrude and her two brothers, Ernie & Rum. Sadly their brother Ozzy passed away recently but he was there in spirit that’s for sure. A good time had by all at Saltburn K9 Adventure Park.

The vast majority of dogs collected by wardens are wearing collars but without identity tags. It states in the Control of Dogs Order 1992, "every dog while in a highway or in a place of public resort shall wear a collar with the name and address of the owner inscribed on the collar or on a plate or badge attached to it". As it is a legal requirement, you may be subject to a fine.

PLEASE, instead of complaining about the cost of getting your dog back from your local council dog pound, just spend a small amount on getting an identity disc with your name, address and phone number on it. Whoever finds your dog would far rather pop it home to you, or ring you to come and collect it, than have to either take it to a vets to scan for a microchip, or take it back to their own home, ring the dog warden and have it taken to the pound.

If your dog keeps losing its tag, get a better quality one. It could be much, much cheaper in the long run!

Let's work together to reduce the volume of dogs going to our rehoming centre.

Today has been such a sad day. Firstly, we were told that Vinnie the gorgeous Boxer sadly passed away yesterday due to a large abdominal tumour. We only got to look after Vinnie once, however he left a huge paw print on our hearts. Such a beautiful dog and taken far too soon.

Following on from that sad news, we then received a message letting us know that Hugo the adorable chocolate Labrador has sadly passed away from old age. We have looked after Hugo for years and we utterly adored him.

We are so grateful to have been given the opportunity to look after these beautiful dogs and tonight, our hearts go out to their owners, who are naturally heartbroken.

We were so sorry to receive a message this morning telling us that Obi has sadly passed away following seizures which caused him to lose full mobility. With guidance from the vet, the owners made the extremely difficult decision to say goodbye. Obi was a gorgeous dog with a quirky personality and he’ll be sorely missed. Thinking of his owners at this very sad time 💔

We’re lucky enough to get to look after this gorgeous boy. His name is Oscar and he will be 8 in June. Due to long work shifts and the children now older and reluctant to put the time in to walking him etc, his owners have made the painful decision that he would be better being given a home with someone who could give him the time he so deserves. He really is a lovely dog and that we can vouch for. We have looked after him many times and he is a perfect guest. He loves playing with the ball when he’s out and he settles really well in the house. He has the usual cockapoo trait of being a bit cautious with strangers but doesn’t show aggression with it and within minutes he’s absolutely fine. He’s really loving and would make the best family pet as he’s great with kids and other dogs alike. Ideally the owner would like him to go to someone recommended so that they can ensure he gets the loving home he needs. If any of our customers are looking to expand their family, please get in touch and we can organise a meet with the owners and Oscar himself.

Most of you will know Stray Aid's background. They started in 2006, accepting 2 dogs a week from 2 local pounds. Over the past 18 years, Stray Aid have rescued and rehomed thousands of stray and abandoned dogs from across our local council areas but our rehoming centre is regularly full now and they cannot accept every dog from the council pounds that they would love to help. This situation is the same across the UK, rescues are at breaking point.

The vast majority of dogs collected by wardens are wearing collars but without identity tags. It states in the Control of Dogs Order 1992, "every dog while in a highway or in a place of public resort shall wear a collar with the name and address of the owner inscribed on the collar or on a plate or badge attached to it".
