Tank Tip Tuesday: FLOW 🪸🌊

1. Position Strategically:

Place the MP40 about a third of the way down on the side of your tank. This helps create a strong, consistent gyre while avoiding blasting corals with direct flow.

2. Mode Selection:

Experiment with modes like Reef Crest for random flow or Lagoon for gentler, broader currents. Nutrient Transport Mode is ideal for keeping detritus suspended for your filtration to handle.


3. Match Coral Needs:

Adjust the flow intensity based on the type of corals you keep. SPS corals thrive in high flow, while LPS and soft corals may prefer gentler movement.

5. Sync and Anti-Sync:

If using multiple MP40s, set them to work in sync or anti-sync mode. This creates dynamic water movement that mimics natural reef environments.

6. Regular Cleaning:

Clean the wet side of the MP40 monthly to maintain peak performance and prevent calcium buildup, which can reduce flow efficiency.

7. Don’t Overdo It:

Too much flow can stress your corals and fish. Observe your tank’s inhabitants and adjust accordingly to ensure they are comfortable.
