LAMENT FOR LUCY

Remember the day that we first met?
To think we would share such love
Mummy cried when she left you that day
Now you have left for heaven above

Lucy you were such a special girl
Puppies adored you and hung from your ears
Your gang of big boys always around
You were Mummy and teacher without any tears

You taught those pups how to behave
How to play and have some fun
You were so kind and gentle
But not afraid to use that tongue!

We have countless pictures of every ball
Of every game, toy, pool, and sandpit
You enjoyed and shared them all
So hard to know which ones to pick!

At least three times a day
When it was time to sleep or rest
On a cushion, lap, or even a foot
Your cuddles were always the best

Its true, life has to go on
Even though you are now in the stars
So we will care for Evie as we did for you
But your absence will always bear scars

Everytime you left to go home
You said goodbye with a kiss
There is nothing to fill that gap
Those goodbyes we will always miss

We'll be eternally grateful to your Mummy
Bringing you to say our final goodbye
Nobody will know how much that meant
It was impossible not to cry

Thank you for being part of our Woofstopper family
We thank your Mummy for gifting you to us
You were always happy and loving
Never ever making a fuss

We will miss you so much our Lucy Lou
But we will remember you every day
Even though our hearts are broken
The beautiful memories will always stay

Last Friday in Ampthill, close to GAS HOUSE LANE, a Chinese Water Deer was attacked by a dog.

The dog owners were no where to be seen. The dog was significantly blooded as a result of this attack so we presume the owners would be aware that something untoward had happened.

This is the second incident like this in this area, we have had other similar incidents over the last week else where in Bedfordshire and so we are reminding dog owners to keep their dogs under proper control at all times.

The Wildlife & Rural Crime Team investigate these incidents as they are specialists in this area of policing. It is worth remembering that if your dog physically gets hold of an animal there are likely animal welfare offences if you do not alleviate the suffering of that animal be that by taking it to a vet, calling the RSPCA or in the worst cases arranging for the animal to be put to sleep by a competent and capable person.
