Harthouse Hillman having a paddle in Coniston Lake last Sunday. We were there doing the Fell Pony Society Display Team Displays in the main ring!
This is the 9th year Hillman has been in the displays. I will upload a snippet of this years musical ride- choreographed by me ☺️

Well I’ve been pretty bad at keeping up with this! 😂

So here’s the next “Meet the Ponies!”

This boy is Harthouse Hillman.
Hillman was bred by my gran, and is by Lowthwaite Gary, out of Tarnbeck Mona Lisa (our oldest mare a few posts down). He is also Honeys half-brother.
He was foaled in 2008, and backed in 2013.

I started riding Hillman in 2015, when I was 13. Our first ride together was in the open ridden fells at Broughton show- envision no brakes!!

Hillman is probably the most well know Harthouse pony, because of the effort and pizaz he puts into everything.
From his first jump in 2015, he has shown an almighty love for it, and has competed and won up to 75/80cm.

He takes part in showing every year, sometimes quite successfully, and also does Cross country, dressage, and mounted games.

Hillman has been part of some amazing things over the years, including the FPS Guard of Honour for HM The Queen, parading around Windsor Castle in 2016, and more recently a parade in the main arena at Burghley Horse Trials with the FPS Display Team!

He’s been an integral member of the display team since it began in 2015- sometimes having up to 4 different roles and riders in one 30 minute display!

At 16 this year, Hillman shows no signs of slowing down, but we’re enjoying taking part in the Veteran classes, although he doesn’t act his age 😊

So that is a brief summary of the superstar (and my favourite 🤫), Harthouse Hillman ❤️

Meet the Horses Day 4 🐴

Harthouse Honey is our next oldest. She is currently 16 years old and is homebred.
She is out of Waverhead Magic 3rd by Lownthwaite Gary.

Honey was backed when she was 7 and had a slow few years getting to grips being ridden. She has done a bit of everything, including inhand showing, dressage and learnt to jump in the last couple of years. She has been a member of the FPS Display Team since 2016/2017.

Honey never bred a foal, but has always been a reliable mare to get on at any time.
I don’t have lots of ridden pictures of her, as she is usually the ears in front of the camera 🥰

Currently, Honey is out of work and in to keep the broodmares company.

Little honey fact: she loves salt and mineral licks SO MUCH, that she actually overdosed herself on a mineral lick and gave herself mild colic 🤦‍♀️ she was fine after a couple of hours!

Little Barney left for his new home today. After a 5 hour drive home, he is settling in well!
We wish his owners the best of luck with him, and look forward to seeing his progress ❤️

I seriously don’t know how this lad hasn’t been snapped up yet!

He only started being led at the weekend, and he is so unfazed by everything- even walking over bale wrap!!
He’s settled into a stable routine, and being turned out through the day.

He is a great mover, and would make a great family pony/ Allrounder.

Meet the Horses Day 3

This lovely girl is Townend Damson.

Damson is 20 years old by Castle Hill Bellman, out of Townend Saffron.

Damson was bought as a foal in 2005 at the annual FPS auction by my Granny, Sal Stewart.

Damson was backed at 4, but didn’t have a career ridden as she was put in foal the same year. She foaled Harthouse Banner (by Lownthwaite Gary) the following year.

A couple of years later in 2012, she foaled Harthouse Hullaballoo (by Banksgate Jackdaw).

Since then, she was brought back into work for a short while but has been fully retired for a few years.
She lives her life on Corney Fell as a semi-feral mare alongside Tarnbeck Mona Lisa.

Day 2 of Meet the Horses!

It’s taken nearly 2 weeks to get to day 2 as we’ve all been really poorly here!

Our next oldest pony here at Harthouse is Jack.
Formally known as Scotgate Midnight Rebel, he is by Underwoods Gideon and out of Branthwaite Dinky.

Jack will be 23 this year and we’ve owned him since he was 9.
We bought Jack originally to get myself (Georgia) back into riding after losing my confidence.
He was bought as a ride and drive, and has done Pony club, showing, cross country etc.

Many fell pony people will recognise him as “Humpty Dumptys wall” at the FPS Breed show in 2014 🥰

Jack is very bad at loading, and when we did get to places he was often on his naughtiest behaviour. So in 2015, we decided to retire him from travelling.

He happily hacks out and also babysits well. He is definitely the joker of the herd, and many people think he’s only young as he certainly doesn’t act 23! Our farrier often remarks on the fact that “he can’t stand still” as Jack is always jingiling his headcollar or making his nose squeak up the glass on the stable windows 😂🤦‍♀️

They both seem to have settled fairly well so far, and Barney is doing great for his first time in a stable ❤️

So we thought that as 2024 starts, and we have a lot of new followers, we’d do a “Meet the Horses”

Our oldest pony at Harthouse is Tarnbeck Mona Lisa.
Mona is 34 years old this year, and is by Townend Duke 3rd, out of Tarnbeck Miracle.

Mona was ridden in her earlier life until an accident, and then became the founding brood mare for Harthouse Fell Ponies!

She’s had 5 foals in her life, 4 being with us.

She currently lives semi-feral on Corney Fell, but is due to come down and have her teeth and feet done to keep her in top form!

The 3rd picture was taken yesterday in the rain and fog, they were happy to see some hard feed!

Braved the early weather this morning, with a trip up to Gosforth Show. As ever, Harthouse Hillman made us smile with a 2nd in the inhand M&M, and a 3rd in the ridden. Also taking Fell Pony Champion.

Harthouse Huntsman (Brocklebank Absinthe x Murthwaite Silver Birch) at New Forest County Show yesterday, taking 3rd in his youngstock class, highest placed fell, and highest placed 2 year old. Well done Shirley Ball and Georgia Norton💞❤️
