PSA: having your dog off the lead is a privilege not a right.

I’ve unfortunately just had yet another incident where my on-lead dog was repeatedly approached by a group of off-lead ones. The owner was totally oblivious and made absolutely no effort to recall them, despite me telling them multiple times to get away.

I really don’t care how “friendly“ your dog is. I also don’t care that he’s “just saying hello” - not all dogs want to socialise and they should be able to go for walks without having to worry about incidents like this.

Please don’t let your dog off the lead if they don’t have a solid recall. I totally get that dogs aren’t robots and that even the best trained dog can get distracted, but if that’s the case, at least have the decency to apologise rather than letting your dog just run riot.

I’ve been working on training loose-lead walking with Buddy since just before Christmas and I am so proud of how well he’s doing ❤️ When he pulls, I stop and say “back” and he turns round and comes to my side, he gets lots of praise, then we carry on 🥰 *ignore the poor quality video, I was trying to film and hold Billy’s lead at the same time 🙈

I have to give the biggest shout-out to newbie Copper 💙 Copper is 6mo and a rescue - when I first visited him on Monday morning, he was so scared he was shaking in his crate and he wouldn’t even look at me, let alone come out and say hello (this is despite doing two meet and greets as he was so nervous). This is what he’s like now - just four short days later 🥰 he wiggles his bum when I come in, comes straight out of his crate for fuss, loves a belly scratch and of course he knows exactly where I keep the treats 🙈 Seeing pups come out of their shells like this is the best part of this job - well done Copper, I am so proud of you! 🥰 P.S. please ignore my ridiculous baby talk 🤣🤣

Yesterday was my first visit with Monty for a few weeks - he was either happy to see me or just plain hungry - I suspect it was probably the latter 🤣🙈

Monty on a mission again! 😍 I’ve loved being able to look after this beautiful boy - he is so well behaved and friendly and I don’t even need to call him for his food anymore, he just appears 🙈🤣

At least someone’s having a good time 🤣 I am so glad that particular mud patch has dried out 🙈
