Im seeing some amount of abscesses and hoof related problems around at the moment in both shod and barefoot horses. Most fields are like swamps and this causes the feet to be constantly saturated and soft. Soft feet are more prone to injury and the chance of infection through bacteria entering the hoof capsule. I’m not normally a fan of hoof oil but at the moment if your horse is stabled then turned out for long periods of time I’d recommend using a traditional oil based product, especially on the soles of the feet and frog to help create a bit of a barrier from the wet ground before turnout.
That’s how your horse should stand for the farrier. 2/3 year old Clydesdale getting a quick trim with no drama. Thankfully I can’t think of any I do these days that arnt like this one 🤔😉😂
First horse of the week or 18.30 on a Friday night, set your own standards and stick to them!
The only 💯% guaranteed fly repellant I know of! Also frees up space at the bar for some reason 🤔🍺🐴🧲🔨☀️🥵🔥💨🪰
