Riding lessons for adults and children of all abilities are offered on a one to one private basis through to group and specialised instruction. Courses are available for complete beginners to those studying for professional qualifications, including ABRS riding and stable management courses and UKCC Coaching Levels 1 and 2. Mr Drummer is very chuffed with himself after letting all his mates out the field and going for a wee dander round Milngavie early doors this morning. Didn’t like the coffee at Tesco’s so went to Waitrose. Our horses have expensive taste. Thankfully they are all back safe and sound and on the naughty step not that u would know from this cheeky chaps face!!

We have launched our adult challenge awards for Thursday evenings at 8pm starting on 3rd June 2021. These are 10 week courses and cost £170. Adults must be confident around horses and be able to carry out instruction with out assistance due to social distancing.
*Government guidelines must be adhered to and face coverings worn in indoor places

Hi all, With the new regulations in place, we are no longer allowed to loan out the hats for the time being. We do have hats for sale at the yard. Hope everyone is safe & well. Following yesterday’s announcement and under the BHSs advice, we are making plans to softly reopen the riding school as of Friday 29th May. We have carried out all the necessary risk assessments and put in place some new procedures which are explained in the below video. It is essential that everyone takes a few minutes to watch our video before making a booking with us. We have to point out at this time: * We are only offering private 1:1 lessons/hacks at this time * We are NOT offering any beginners lessons * Every rider MUST be competent in mounting/adjusting girth & stirrups on their own. * please attend lessons on your own & if this is not possible, only bring 1 member of Same household with you. * All bookings to be made & paid for through our online system. The system will not be live until Monday 25th May so lessons will not be able to be booked until this time. If anything changes to postpone the start of “phase 1” we will credit your accounts. Thanks again for all your patience. We have missed you all and we hope to see you all very soon.

Our Story

This year Easterton Stables has undergone a change of ownership and with it a change of name. The new company is Easterton Farm Park Ltd. Don’t let the name put you off, The Stables @ Easterton Farm Park will continue to run and will be bigger and better than ever.

Renovation project - The stables have undergone major renovation works from a new undercover stable block to a fully refurbished and comfy tack room. Both the indoor and outdoor arenas are due for resurfacing and will be completed mid October 2018. The riding school shed is scheduled for a deep clean and a new office will be built for riding school clients along with an undercover viewing area for the indoor arena. Watch this space for further information and updates.

Following the arena resurface we will be relaunching the riding school on the 13th of October with a new structure.

After chatting with clients and parents it was clear that there was a need to refresh the old way doing things with our lesson. Therefore, we set our very experienced coaches the challenge of restructuring the whole lesson set up. We are very excited with the new plans that they have worked hard on and we would like to implement the new structure when the arenas open back up after the resurfacing.

THE NEW STRUCTURE:

We will be using the “SMART” goals set up to model this restructure on. These are:

S – Specific

M – Measurable

A – Actionable

R – Relevant

T – Time bound

Our objective for the new structure is to show a clear pathway from the first time on a horse through to those looking to begin competing or loaning/owning their own horse. It will allow both the rider and coach to monitor everyone’s individual progress.

Initially, we have split the various levels of competency into 5 different groups. The weekend groups will now be as follows:

UNICORNS: @ 12NOON - Total beginners’ group - riders must have been for a lead out before joining this group. In this group you will learn to walk & trot on a lead rein.

HIGHLANDS: @ 2PM - This group is for Beginners that can now be off the lead rein and can walk and trot independently. You will also be introduced to canter in this group.

COBS: @ 11AM - This group should be able to walk, trot & canter and will be starting to trot over cross poles.

WARMBLOODS: @ 10AM - This is the intermediate group. You should be able to walk, trot and canter competently and will be starting to jump. This group should also be competent without stirrups

THOUROUGHBREDS: @ 3PM - The Advanced group. This group can walk, trot, canter and jump without stirrups alongside other more advanced riding. This group would also be deemed ready to have a horse of their own and can ride any horse of any level.

The group lessons will take a maximum of 8 riders in each class.

If we find there is a need for another lesson slot we will do so at 9am on sat/sun

We will now also be running group lessons during the week at 4pm each day (except a Monday)

Private lessons will also be following the new criteria of the different levels of competency.

SO HOW WILL IT ALL WORK:

Each rider will be provided with their own booklet which will have a progression chart within it for each of the different levels of competency. Each progression chart will clearly outline the goals which must be met before the rider will be deemed suitable to move onto the higher level of group. Your coach will tick off and date when each goal/task has been achieved and witnessed by them. Once all the goals have been achieved and the chart has all been ticked off then the rider can move up to the next level of competency. The booklet will be the client’s responsibility to bring with them each week to get ticked and completed.

We feel that this new set-up will help clients / riders and parents understand the goals and achievements as we all move forward together.

We will also be introducing a STABLE MANAGEMENT programme which we feel would be very beneficial for ALL riders to go through. Further information on this will be provided at a later stage.

As I am sure you are all aware, the long-term plans for Easterton Farm park is to build a café next to the outdoor arena. The foundations for this are hoping to be started by the end of the year. Until then, we will be running a small Tuck shop in the riding school office at the weekends.

HACKING - We will be continuing to offer our one hour hacks around Mugdock Country Park. All riders must be competent in Walk/Trot and be able to control their own horse prior to riding out with us.
