Many of our clients may have seen the CMA review on the news. We just wanted to assure our clients that we will always endeavour to provide options for our patients where we can.
As an independent practice, we have full control of our pricing structure and aim to keep treatments as cost effective as we can. Over the years, the level of Veterinary care has improved, but obviously this has increased prices. There are often many options available, so we will discuss these with you. The choice of treatments is always the owners decision, but we will try to help you make this decision based on what is best for you and your pet.
We are aware that drugs are often cheaper online (sometimes cheaper than we can buy them!) so we can offer written prescriptions if you would like.
We are proud to have become part of the village and if you have any questions you are always welcome to pop in for a chat.

Geriatric Clinics

Any cat over the age of 8 would be classed as "senior". Larger breed dogs enter this bracket even earlier, some as early as 5.
Nurses can discuss any concerns you may have with you aging pet and may suggest further testing such as blood tests, urine tests or blood pressure measurement.
Blood and urine tests can reveal underlying conditions before they become obvious. High blood pressure is relatively common in humans without any symptoms, this can also be true in early stages in pets.
Any tests performed by the nurses will be reviewed by the vets and the results reported back to you in a few days.

Why would you use this clinic?
▪︎ No specific concerns, just wanting to get your pet checked over
▪︎ Your pet is "just getting older"
▪︎ Your pet has been seen by the vet in the last 12 months.

Due to the fantastic response to the advert, we will be closing applications for this post at 6pm Friday 16th February. Thank you to everyone who has been in contact, we will look to be in touch next week.
We are looking for a part time (3 days per week) receptionist to join our team.
Reception experience would be a bonus, but training will be given on our systems.
Since opening in July, we have the nicest clients and owners we could possibly wish for, so if you want to be part of our local community in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, please send a CV and covering letter to [email protected]

February is dental health month.

Pets benefit from regular dental checks just as we do.
For minor issues, our nurses can advise on home management such as teeth brushing, appropriate toys or treats.
For more significant issues, the nurses may recommend that you see a vet for further assessment.

Once your pet has had their initial vaccinations, they are often not seen again until they are due boosters a year later.
Our nurses are offering a chance to discuss any "teenage issues". They can also give your pet a general check over and discuss whether or not neutering is appropriate for them.
There is an opportunity at this check to have a "healthy" blood test to provide a base line of what is normal for your pet.
This is not just for dogs, we can also provide sampling for cats.
If you would like to see our nurses (with or without the blood samples) please call the surgery to book in.

Our nurses have been channeling their inner Blue Peter skills to create display boards in our waiting rooms. This month, we are focusing on weight loss in pets. Feel free to call in and look at the boards. Whilst you're here, you could book in to see Vicki or Michele if you would like any support with weight loss for your pet.

We all suffer from overindulgence over Christmas, even our pets, but is it a bit more than too much turkey?
Obesity can cause multiple issues in both humans and animals.
If you are worried about your pet's weight our nurses can help you to monitor and feed your pet appropriately for weight loss.
Please give the surgery a call if you would like to book into our weight clinic.

Does your pet have an ongoing condition that you'd like to chat about, but you don't feel you need to see the vet?
Our Registered Veterinary Nurses are starting to run Nurse clinics to give people this opportunity.
They can examine your pet, take blood or urine tests and discuss any ongoing concerns you have.
Sometimes a little reassurance from them is all you need, but if there is anything they feel would be better being discussed with a vet, they can do this and Gemma or Clare will be in touch.
Over the next few weeks we will post about the types of clinics our nurses run. Please call the surgery to book in if you would like to see our wonderful nurses.

Many people may have seen the new legislation regarding bully breeds.
We are not here to comment on whether this legislation is fair or not, just to try to help people understand what they will have to do.
Please read the guidance note and if you need further advice, please get in touch and we will try to help if we can.
