It’s grass seed season! Don’t forget to check in between your dogs toes and paw pads after walking, especially if they have fluffy paws.

The war in Ukraine has increased the cost of diesel at an alarming rate especially for a small business like mine that is so dependent on diesel to provide a service. Because of this I have no option but to increase my grooming prices by £2 per customer/household from 1st May. I will send out this as a text message to everyone to be sure that everyone has had 3 weeks notice. Thankyou for your understanding.

Happy New Year everyone. Thankyou so much for supporting my business over the past year. As I enter my 4th year of being a dog groomer I am reminded of how lucky I am to feel so appreciated in my work. It’s been a pleasure to groom your lovely dogs. Although this year has not been easy it has seen me make improvements in my health and fitness. We have also welcomed a new cheeky little four legged member to our family who has brought love and chaos in equal measure! His first Christmas with us was wonderful ❤️I will look forward to seeing you next year. Il be back on 12th January xx

Price increases:
Dear all I am reluctantly having to increase my prices due to the rise in diesel costs but also due to the increasing costs involved in the equipment, tools, products, maintenance and running of my business. Most people will be charged £3 extra but if you live further out then it will be £6 extra. I will contact you all over the next few weeks about this. Thankyou for understanding.

The governing bodies have updated their COVID guidelines and state that from Monday 29th March

“Groomers may undertake all grooming by appointment. Care should be taken to ensure COVID security when the pet is admitted or returned.”

This means that normal grooming can resume for all breeds and all coat conditions and does not have to meet the conditions of a “welfare groom” anymore 😊 🐶.

Just a reminder that I am not taking on new customers for the foreseeable future as I am too full. Because of this I am not keeping a waiting list or a cancellations list. It is lovely to be recommended but I can only review this if my customer base changes.

Some people have asked me for some pointers when trimming nails. If your dog has white nails it is much easier to see where to cut but ALWAYS make sure you leave a border of “dead” or white nail. Don’t trim right up to the pink part of the nail because the blood supply actually tapers towards the end of the nail. So you won’t see the pink on the outside but look at the second picture where you can see the vein becoming visible on the underneath of the nail as you trim shorter. If your dog has black nails then you have to be more cautious and only trim a tiny bit at a time until you see the blood supply start to become visible on the underneath of the nail. If your dogs nails are trimmed regularly then this “tapering” effect becomes shorter and you can leave a smaller border of dead nail. When the nails have been allowed to get long this encourages the blood supply to also grow long and you will probably need to leave a larger border of dead nail.

I haven’t posted any before and after pictures for ages, but I love it when owners send me their own pictures 🥰 Rosie’s owner took the most stunning before and after pictures. She had skipped a groom due to the lockdown restrictions and was very matted so needed to go much shorter than normal.

The governing bodies have updated the guidelines and are very clear that dogs are only to be groomed if there is a welfare issue already present. For example the coat is matted or a vet has advised bathing due to a skin condition. I have already contacted most of you to either postpone your appointments or to go ahead if these needs exist and a disclaimer is signed. Thankyou for your understanding.

I would like to reassure everyone that I am still allowed to work during lockdown. The government advice is that dog groomers can continue to work on the grounds of animal welfare needs. I will be wearing a mask when picking up and dropping off your dogs and would ask that you do the same. If anyone in your family has tested positive for Covid or is showing signs/symptoms of Covid please let me know and we will re arrange your appointment. Thankyou for your understanding at this difficult time xx

What a year it’s been! Thankyou everyone for all your lovely thoughtful Christmas gifts and tips and for your continued support. I have been very lucky that I chose a business model that was able to operate during all the lockdowns this year but I couldn’t have kept going without you. Let’s hope next year is a better one for all of us. Happy Christmas ###

Just a little note to say that I am still allowed to work during lockdown so all of your appointments are still going ahead as normal. However I totally understand if you don’t feel comfortable and would rather postpone your appointment until next year (at the moment I am fully booked up until the end of January but I will do my best to fit you in where possible) 🐶 🎃

🐾 I am unable to take on any new customers at this time 🐾

Stay safe 🌈 xx
