We are a Doggy Daycare centre based in South Northamptonshire. Our centre offers full days and half days in either the morning or afternoons depending on your needs.
My idea for a dog daycare centre came many years ago on a trip to Dalyan in Turkey, I was a dog walker at the time and got my fabulous clients to help me put together a travel bag containing all kinds of food, treats, medications, parasite treatments etc for a street dog rescue I had read about there. I took the donated bits and bobs to the “Dalyan Animal Shelter” and I was astonished at how these dogs that had no owners, shown little to no love before being at the shelter, no training, yet here they were all getting along playing nicely and no sign of fighting or aggression. That stayed with me the whole trip, “why can’t I do something like this in the UK for our pet dogs, where they can just be dogs, learn from each other and chose how they spend their days?”
A few years later I revisited this idea and did some basic research and saw in this time others had also had the idea of starting dog daycare’s or a dog creche, so I began putting together a business plan, which I presented to my Dad and my Grandad (both businessmen) and to my surprised they were fully on board! Roll on lots of let downs finding a suitable location who would allow dogs on site, lots of research and preparation, contracts, documents back and forward with the local SNC council to be allowed to get the use of land changed in our chosen location, then the building begin! It took a year and a half to just get council approval and then 7 months of us building the structures you see today for our main dog building, reception, grooming salon, and both the fair/wet weather areas for the dogs. But through the trials of this 2 year project it’s been a family mission with my Dad, Mum, Grandad and Fiance helping at various stages of the build and I’m so elated and proud of where Waggy Tales is in it’s developments today.
