Welcome to Bounders Dog Training, the home of fun, positive training for you and your four legged friend. At Bounders Dog Training we strongly believe that training should be enjoyable for you and your dog. Because of this, we teach in a positive, force free and engaging way, outdoors at our beautiful 1 acre field at Bradwell Abbey in the heart of Milton Keynes. We can help with all training needs

from puppies to older dogs, obedience to simple behavioral problems, tricks to agility through to our 1 to 1 training sessions, our fun group Camps and short courses. We believe that training needs to be accessible to all and flexible to fit around your life. To do this, we split our initial training into Camps, focusing on different aspects in seperate 90 minute sessions, rather than a strict weekly course. This way you can pick the training that best suits you without having to commit to a full course! If you want to go further, you can book onto a short four-week course that focuses on your needs

Although many dogs love sticks, they can cause injuries from splintering or being run into. If your dog loves chewing wood, some great non-splintering natural wood chews are available, including coffee and olive wood. And if your dog loves to fetch? Blueberries can make a tasty occasional treat for your dog. Always wash thoroughly and feed in moderation, 1 or 2 berries, 2 to 3 times per week but check with your vet first if your dog is on any medication before adding to or changing your dog's diet.

Poor oral hygiene can lead to a host of unpleasant and potentially dangerous health issues for your dog. So getting them used to having their mouth handled and teeth brushed from a young age is best. But if you have an older rescue dog, don't worry. Just start slowly and be patient. Simply moving your hand toward or touching your dog's face and building trust is a good first step.

Many foods have health benefits for you and your dog, and cucumber is one of them. Hydrating and low-calorie, cucumber can make a refreshing treat in hot weather and a soothing snack for sore gums. It's best to remove the skin for puppies and older dogs to avoid choking risks. Feed in moderation, a couple of cubes or slices per day.

Planning in advance can save a lot of stress and worry, especially if you are experiencing a difficult situation that's already causing you stress. Knowing your dog is safe and well-looked after is as important for you as it is for them.

Friday Training Tip - Where you reward your dog is a key part of training. If you want your dog to walk on your left-hand side, consistently reward them on your left-hand side, when you are training them.

What to avoid - if you want your dog to walk on your left-hand side, don't reward them with your right hand (or vice versa) as they'll probably end up walking in front of you to get the treat!

Tuesday Tip!

Fresh fruit and vegetables can make a tasty, healthy addition to your dog's diet. They can make tasty treats or good natural chews.

Cucumber can be a nice cool and hydrating treat. Remember to always feed in small quantities and remove the skin if feeding to puppies.

Not all fruits and vegetables are safe for dogs. If in doubt, leave it out, until you have checked that it is helpful and not harmful for your four-legged friend!

Scentwork is a great way to give your dog mental stimulation. Perfect for puppies and adult dogs alike, it can help calm and focus dogs with too much energy but is also great for older dogs needing restricted exercise. Ever thought of having a go at agility with your dog? Well we have a number of Bronze Camps, our 90 minute Camps can give you a good taster of what it's like to take up agility. Loose lead with Woody

Does your dog pull when walking on a lead? If so, we can help you get your dog to walk nicely alongside you. Our next Loose Leaders workshop takes place on Sunday 27th March starting at 12.15pm. The workshop will run for 2 hours in our fully enclosed training field at Bradwell Abbey. The cost is just £50 per dog.
