It’s been 2 months since we took over Houndabout 🐾
When we arrived, things were pretty run down — but we’ve been working our butts off to get it back up to scratch 💪

✅ Weeded the carparks & tidied up equipment
✅️ Scheduled in regular grass cuts
✅ Cleared out all the broken stuff
✅ Built brand new, sturdy equipment
✅ Added weave poles for some extra challenge
✅️ Got rid of the broken water trough
✅ Installed taps & a water station (Field 2 is a work in progress... had a little pipe drama 😅)
✅ Refilled the sand pits
✅ Filled the track & patched up field holes
✅ Cleaned up the scent area
✅ Started a lush new long grass section
✅ Got some seriously cool drone footage coming soon 🚁🎥
✅️ AND...... a new logo!!

There’s still heaps more to do and even more exciting plans ahead — so watch this space 👀

So we made it happen!

We want your help....

We are making lots of improvements to the fields and have lots of NEW ideas 💡

But you are the people who have used these fields for years and we want to hear your ideas too

Operation Spruce Up is still underway! 💜

If you haven't seen our Intro and Q&A, you can watch it on our page.

Once you watch, if you have any suggestions for the fields, we would love to hear them... fill out our suggestions box form (check out our next post)

Next on our list is to fix/replace the equipment, tidy up the hedges and areas surrounding the fields, continue filling in holes in the fields and on the track, add some new areas in to the fields and get the water turned on.

We are close to getting our logo finalised too so can't wait to share that with you all!

We still have some sessions available in both fields over the BH Weekend.... book in and let us know what you think! 🐶

P.s we will be at the west bletchley dog show 10th may (Adam is judging so come down and enter your dogs in) and the big doggie do dog show 17th and 18th may. And we might be giving out some discount codes for the fields 🤫

⚠️⚠️ IF you plan to continue using Houndabout for the foreseeable future PLEASE READ! ⚠️⚠️

This is my first post in months and I'm sorry it's not a more positive one - I'm not sure whether it's the fields or myself that have felt more battered and bruised by the winter this year 😩 It's felt like one thing after another over the last few months and makes me regularly question myself whether I've got the energy for this anymore... 🏳

I've now been laid up in bed for the last 5 days with either Covid or Flu 😩😷 so unfortunately I've been unable to do my regular maintenance at the fields.

One user contacted me over the weekend to let me know that they'd found a few missed poos in field 2 and they kindly picked them up but even before the weekend I had noticed a definite drop in the standards expected recently across both fields as I was finding more on my checks than previously...

I fully appreciate the grass is getting longer than I'd ideally allow it but the ground is still so wet, there's little chance of cutting any time soon.

I really hope people can start being more respectful of the facility and each other by being MORE vigilant and responsible for your own dogs 💩 !

I will hopefully get over to the fields over the next few days, health permitting, but I'm conscious that with the Bank Holiday weekend ahead if I find standards continue to be below par I'll need to consider my next move, be it reducing session availability until the grass has been cut OR CLOSING COMPLETELY until further notice..

Mac and I enjoyed an early start and our first visit of 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣4️⃣ doing maintenance checks in both fields and giving him a good run in the process.

I'd like to take this opportunity to wish all our visitors, past, present and future, a very happy and healthy new year 🎉 and hope that everyone has had a great Christmas. Due to ill health I've not been very active on social media for the past few months but hope for a better year.

Finally, I know I say it every year but a big thank you to everyone that continues to support Houndabout, whether through regular visits, or an occasional visit, liking and/or sharing of our posts and through your recommendations. I will forever be grateful and hope that you continue to enjoy the facility 🐾🙌🙏

Those of you visiting Field 2 in the last week or so will have had the pleasure of driving through "Houndabout Ford"... 🥴 this was caused due to a blockage of the culvert pipe running underneath. I even attempted in vain to clear the blockage myself last week (by going in waist deep..) 🥶

Further rainfall last night made the issue even worse.. but due to the pipe being submerged by over 2 feet of water we needed to dig a trench across the lane to to reduce the water levels enough to access the pipe. 😫

I was thinking we could branch out from dog fields to whitewater canoeing/rafting if enough people were interested.. 🤷‍♂️😂

At least the issue has now been resolved, even if the solution had to be quite drastic.. Field 2 will remain closed tomorrow morning whilst the lane is made passable again but should be ok from lunchtime onwards.
