OVERLOOKED KITTY KIKI 🐱Cute Kiki has had a tough start to life. A kind lady found her as a stray and brought her to us, heavily pregnant! She went on to have four beautiful kittens and proved to be a excellent mum. With her kittens all grown up and moving on to their new homes she is now looking for a home of her own. She can be a little shy at first, but once she gets to know you her sweet personality shines through. She would be the perfect addition to an adult home or maybe an older family. She will need a garden to explore when the time is right. If Kiki could be your new best friend please contact us 😻😻

Gorgeous George is just...well gorgeous! He is a super sweet long-leg lad with a bit of a shy and sensitive side. He would therefore suit a home with older or no children so there are not too many loud bangs to send him into hiding. However, when he feels confident with you, he likes to stand on your lap to give lots of kisses and head bumps.. He is an absolute sweetheart and gentle boy. If you need to brighten up your life then George could be the feline to do just that!

Meet gorgeous Gracie. She is such a chill lady, very calm and laid-back yet affectionate. She will come for cuddles and then go do her own thing, which makes her a perfect purry companion for someone who has a bit of a busier lifestyle. As she came to us as a stray we do not know her history but she seems really relaxed and should be happy to live with sensible children. That said she would need to meet everyone first to check our suspicions! She is affectionate in an understated way and who could resist that super squishy pink nose! Fantastic fun-time Fifi is a super chatty, super affectionate lady. She has come from a multi cat household so may be able to live with other cats but would really love to experience being the only pet and getting all the love. Judging her friendly character, we think she would be fine to live with sensible children (she would need to meet and approve of first). Fifi has the most gorgeous colourings; a ginger tabby/tortie mix! Pretty as a picture. Get in contact to find out more.

Cuteness alarm!! We have two beautiful kittens looking for a forever home, either together or separate. They can live with children and would love access to a garden.

The male on the left is Rowan. He is an adorable little kitten who is playful and full of beans. He is quite confident, always being in the midst of things but also enjoys some quite time and cuddles.

The female on the right is called Rosehip. She is an absolute sweetheart, gentle and playful, although a lot more relaxed than her sibling. Rosehip is very affectionate, rubbing her tiny head into your hands and climbing on your shoulders to get a better view of what is going on.

*Secret lapcat* Sweet Dolly, with her fluffy coat of many colours, is looking for her forever home. She has a gentle quiet soul and is still a little unsure of being in our cattery. However, she is starting to come out of her shell and loves to snuggle on the lap of people she knows well. We think a quiet home with no children or pets and access to a safe garden, would be just the job for her to come out of her safe place (under a blanket) and experience some cuddles and affection. A little more about our two amazing boys Pebbles and Boots
They came to us because someone abandoned them but luckily, we took them in and now they are ready to find a new loving home. They are both absolute sweethearts, greeting you at the door with gentle head bumps and cuddles. They even climb on your lap to chill. They are laid-back, affectionate cats who have a lot of love to give. They would like to find a home together, as they are best cat friends, with direct access to a garden. On the 16th of June we at Cats Protection celebrate Mature Moggies Day to acknowledge how amazing our senior cats are.

Sadly, older cats in our care have to wait three times longer to find homes than their younger counterparts.
However, mature cats have a lot to offer:
They can cope better with their human’s busy lifestyle.
They are usually more content
Their personality, quirks and preferences are already established

📣 **Volunteer Opportunity: Cat Handling for work with with Blue Cross Vet**

Every Monday, around 2/2:30 pm until 4/5 pm, our centre hosts a Blue Cross vet to check on the cats that are not yet ready to be rehomed.

We need volunteers to help with this important task, which involves:
- Handling cats and placing them into carriers (in a specific order)
- Bringing the carriers to the vet room
- Returning the cats to their pens after they’ve been seen

Some cats are easier to handle than others. Aggressive cats will only be handled by staff.

This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in a career in cat care or the veterinary industry. If you’d like to shadow our team and learn the best way to place cats into carriers, we can arrange that.

Meet stunning Shelley! She is a sweet and very gentle lady who loves attention and has the most charming meow. She Is a little unsure of loud noises but give her a few moments and she is by your side for some strokes and attention. Shelley come from a multi-cat household and is desperate for a home where she is the only cat. To date she has lived indoors but we think that outdoor access would be beneficial to her wellbeing. A mature quiet household would be ideal. With a bit of time and patience, Shelly surely will be an amazing, loving additional to your family. Get in contact if you can offer her a loving new home.

Just a quick reminder that microchipping will be a legal requirement for all cats, including indoor cats by the 10th of June. Failure to do so can lead to a fine of up to £500. You can get your cat microchipped by your vet or a private, registered implanter, cots vary between £15-£25.

We've changed our name! Just in case you were wondering where your favourite Mitcham Cats Protection page had gone, it's still us. We're now called the South London Cat Centre

This change represents the larger scale of work we do to make life better for cats across South London, as well as the way our volunteers and employees team up to make a big impact for cats, even in smaller towns, villages and communities. But we're still very much based at Boundary Business Court in Mitcham

By dropping the word ‘rehoming’, we now show our full commitment to caring for cats at every stage of their lives and the wide range of support we give to cat owners to keep their pets happy, healthy and safe.

Together we’re on a mission to reach every cat, because life is better with cats.

Meet stunning Alpine! This handsome young boy is looking for his forever home. He is still very shy but when approached carefully, he loves gentle cuddles. Seeking foster volunteers experienced with cats behavior issues. Time, patience, and commitment required.
We have timid and overstimulated cats in our care who need to regain trust in people. Placing them in foster homes can greatly improve their well-being. It may take weeks or months, but the reward of seeing their behavior improve is worth the time and patience.

*LAP CAT* Meet absolute sweetheart Possum! this cute, gentle little lady came to us as a pregnant stray. After all the hard work of being a good mum she is now ready to take up residency in a loving family home. Because of her friendly, calm nature she could live with mature children but she will be fine with anyone old enough to take care of her and give her a comfy lap to sit on when she wants it. She is very affectionate, sweet natured and playful so access to a garden is what she is looking for once she has settled. The Government has announced that microchipping will be a legal requirement for cats In England. If your cat is currently not microchipped, you must do so by 10 June 2024. Owners are given 21 days to get their cat chipped or face a fine of up to £500.

Why is microchipping important?
Microchips are a safe, painless, and effective way to identify your cat. Microchipping makes your pet permanently identifiable so in the case your cat gets lost, you can be reunited with your cat quickly.

Who does it apply to?
All pet cats in England which are older than 20 weeks, even if they are indoor cats.

How does it work?
You can get your cat microchipped by your vet or a private, registered implanter. A small chip is inserted under the cat’s skin, which has a unique serial number which is then registered on a database. When a cat is found, the microchip can be read with a scanner, the registered owner identified, and the cat can quickly be reunited with the owner.

How much does it cost?
Depending on the area you live in, costs of microchipping are between £15-£25.

What if my cat is already microchipped?
Owners with cats that are already microchipped should ensure their details are up to date by consulting either their vet or their microchip company.
