Send away , this is something I’ve started doing with our upper skills group .
Here is Paws little Amber demonstrating a simple send out command and then two go back commands . Amber is trained with a whistle but I appreciate that most people use verbal and hand commands so here I’ve just used a hand command for both stop and recall . The send out targets are bowls with a treat in each as a remote reward . 🐶

Having a reactive dog can isolate an owner from many things, but with patience, consistency and good training this young owner has achieved many things she thought were not possible, the biggest of which was being able to join and work in a class environment!

This is Nigel , a lovely Lab who has just graduated from our puppy class and will soon be joining our skills classes, getting dome training done on the beach , fantastic, well done . 🐶

Meet Maui, this lovely young dog has had his fair share of problems in his young life . He is now a member of our skills classes , and his owners have worked consistently hard and are doing fabulous with him . Here he is getting some training in , in a place where he feels most vulnerable. Well done 🐶

One thing we get asked a lot at Paws is training when you have multiple dogs . When this is the case it’s important that each dog looks to the handler for direction, focus and confidence and not the other dogs !! Correct individual training will create the required skills to then be able for them each to be comfortable and balanced and obedient on their own and in the company of others . 🐶

Paws little Amber is in season at the moment so going out doing her usual work and training isn’t an option so instead I’m keeping her focus with some short obedience type sessions . She really enjoys these and it’s a great way to use her energy and keep her skills sharp ! 🐶

This lovely working Cocker is currently in our puppy class and after only 3 sessions doing a fantastic job of walking nicely on a lead through Chester for some socialising! Win win ! Very well done 🐶

This lovely young dog of only 6 months old started with some 1-2-1 lessons with us at 10 weeks and is currently in our puppy classes . Look at him doing a super job of waiting and recalling with a nice release command to finish . Very well done 🐶

After Summer passed her Bronze UK Sniffer dog award , she now attends our progression course , here she is doing a fantastic job of a 3-2-1 scent search . 🐶

A Little About Me & My Services

I am a qualified Canine Trainer & Behaviourist working in North Wales. I qualified from the British College of Canine Studies with a distinction in Advanced Level 4 Canine Behaviour, all BCCS courses are accredited & approved by Pet Education, Training & Behaviour Council. I hold a certificate in Dog Law, Canine First Aid and hold an enhanced DBS.

I have had dogs in my life for over 18 years, my first dog ‘Penny’ a black Labrador in many ways was my saviour, she ‘gave me her paw, when I needed a hand’ & so she is the inspiration behind ‘Paws for Thought & I Will Give You a Hand’

Over the years there has been several Springer Spaniels and a little Jack Russel who was in desperate need of re-homing; I have always expected a high level of obedience from our dogs, irrespective of which canine sports we undertook or indeed wherever we took them. Isla, is my young 2 year old Labrador and together we are learning the art of agility, she is full of energy & enthusiasm, with a high instinctual drive, guided with respect and her biddable nature to please.

The psychology of dogs has always fascinated me & so my journey to become a Behaviourist began.
