Paws little Amber on a short exercise using a distraction (bowl of food ). In the drill notice there is no leave command she’s concentrating on what’s being asked and carrying it out .
Once she’s finished and gets released (free time) she heads to the bowl so as a test a leave command is given and she immediately turns off it . Leaves are something we teach a lot of in our skills classes , an important command for lots of reasons

I worked with this delightful little dog this week and felt we had made great progress with her over excited reactivity.
Today I receive this lovely message from her owner and I couldn’t be more please …… thank you
“We have spent a very informative 4hrs with the lovely Fiona today who had agreed to help & advize us with a few problems we have with our 3 year old dog, whom we have rehomed from her previous owner 8 months ago.
Fiona was quick to put us at ease & explained things clearly every step of the way.She has impeccable knowledge which she is more than willing to share & was so patient with both my self & our little dog whilst out on a walk. This was our first experience with a dog behaviourist & we could not have chosen more wisely. The whole experience was a big positive learning curve with a very professional, kind warm hearted lady.Thank you so much Fiona.Let the hard work begin🙂”

I am a qualified Canine Trainer & Behaviourist working in North Wales. I qualified from the British College of Canine Studies with a distinction in Advanced Level 4 Canine Behaviour, all BCCS courses are accredited & approved by Pet Education, Training & Behaviour Council. I hold a certificate in Dog Law, Canine First Aid and hold an enhanced DBS.
I have had dogs in my life for over 18 years, my first dog ‘Penny’ a black Labrador in many ways was my saviour, she ‘gave me her paw, when I needed a hand’ & so she is the inspiration behind ‘Paws for Thought & I Will Give You a Hand’
Over the years there has been several Springer Spaniels and a little Jack Russel who was in desperate need of re-homing; I have always expected a high level of obedience from our dogs, irrespective of which canine sports we undertook or indeed wherever we took them. Isla, is my young 2 year old Labrador and together we are learning the art of agility, she is full of energy & enthusiasm, with a high instinctual drive, guided with respect and her biddable nature to please.
The psychology of dogs has always fascinated me & so my journey to become a Behaviourist began.
I am personally only too well aware of bad training techniques and quick fixes, and so it is with passion that I am trying to redress the balance.
I train with positive reinforcement, fair & balanced training techniques, tailored to each individual Client and their dogs(s), ‘one size....does not fit all! I endeavour to work alongside my Clients to improve their communication and relationship with their companion, bearing in mind at all times the Clients ultimate goal(s). I can provide as much or as little as the Client/case requires, telephone &/or email communication is unlimited, I want the best for you and your dog.
I provide 1-1 assessment within your home at your convenience, with immediate guidance & a follow up bespoke programme, supported with as little or as much follow on care, as the Client/case requires.
1-1 puppy training to help guide you to reaching your perfect fun loving companion, creating family stability and a well-balanced relationship.
A limited number of dog walking places in today’s busy lifestyles it is not always possible to give your companion the exercise you would wish. I would love to keep you update by photo graphs and videos.
